Sony hate thread

No way in hell that it hits stores in a month or 2. I can buy being announced and released 4-6 months later or pushed to 2025 holidays. But you don't shadow drop something like that into retailers without a long timeline.
One month is definitely a stretch, but I could see two. That’s what they did for the Switch, not counting that initial 2-3 minute trailer.

Ok, lets say announced in Jan, launched in June/July. Nothing changes. Sony are still fucked and can't course correct quicker than Nintendo can ship.
Yeah, that's fine. Just reminded me a bit of the retarded release of the Saturn. And yeah, Sony would be absolutely gigafucked at that point.

Wasn't aware the Switch had such a quick turnover, but it was also a point in time where nobody honestly expected much from the switch. I still remember everyone, me included, eating crow when it blew up. Retailers will want their pound of flesh secure for what will likely be a very demanded product.

Different markets and times for the saturn but yeah, releasing without 10 million units on hand would be suicide.

6 months from initial discussion (october) to launch (march). Has the switch 2 been officially announced? I could see Nintendo wanting to launch in FY 2025.

Just a thought: 50% of PSN users are sticking with the PS4. If the switch is priced right, who would buy a PS5 with no games over a Switch with a yuge library?

Not officially that I'm aware of. The game awards would have been ideal but I guess Geoff has Sony cock so deep into his intestines that nothing Nintendo is allowed at all. A Direct before year ends, specially now that stuff is leaking, seems sensible.

If it's $500 at worst and can play third party at a similar level as the steamdeck, it will be a bloodbath.

Sony might lower the PS5 prices in 2025, so the impact of switch2 will not have much effect. Have you thought about that?

Everyone's talking about "japanese videogame industry resurgence" "all the best games are coming from Japan!"

Meanwhile Soyny who decided to go all in with their " western direction"

So I’ve finally played the Soy boy game of the year, Astro-bot…. It’s like ok but in no way would I classify it as game of the year. By the Game Awards logic every year with a Mario platformer should have that be Game of The Year, because Astro Boy was basically just a not as good version of Mario.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Balldos Gate 3 but I completely understood why many people would say it’s a GOTY game. This and then seeing all the out of nowhere merchandise and people talking about it makes it feel very Astro…………Turfed!

It sounds so generic and safe that I'd believe it. Even Horizon Zero Yawn's boring plot made up for it with the lore that's basically the Animatrix's 'The Second Renaissance' meets Ito's 'Gyo'. No amount of kino direction will make this supposed story the least bit interesting.

For me given Druckmann's known political beliefs, the plot felt like another "THE JEWS ARE OPPRESSED" type of narrative, that is assuming that it's true since the leak sounds basic enough for anyone to make up so unless more information is corroborated with more promotional stuff, I'll take it with a grain of salt. I just can't wait to defend Space Israel.

This is all just so fucking dumb. Hate to defend the Witcher IV (as I only have what I heard about previous games and the trailer to go off of), but at least Ciri is a more attractive looking character than the hyper realistic MCU Air Nomad.

The Saturn had more that going against it. It was underpowered, alienated retailers and customers with its release window shenanigans, had like four games ready and was too expensive for what it was.

No, we did not. Lowering the price would be the smart thing to do which is why we did not think Sony would do it.

At least the Saturn did really well in Japan. and unironically has more interesting games than PS5

Nintendo said they would announce in Q1, implying they would release in Q2. I see no reason to doubt that. Announcement hopefully in Ja/Feb, release around May. Its definitely not coming in February, that means there'd have to already be millions done and sitting in a warehouse in Vietnam or getting loaded on a freighter today.

The Switch was first revealed in September 2016 and it was released six months later in March 2017. There is no way in hell Nintendo would release a new console that soon after the announcement.

As far as price drops are concerned i have calculated the question with autistic accuracy
by using the metric USD and pyramidic algebra multiplication techniques and it came out like this:
400USD x 0 games = still 0 consumer interest.

Also price drops would likely mess with the plan (that i think they have) to make the PS6 also retardedly expensive.
After all, they lost money on the PS3 hardware pretty much all the way through (after dropping prices pretty quickly) and probably dont want to do that again.
So sacrificing this gen to establish that sweet 500-600$ as a new baseline seems reasonable by nu-sony standards.
Especially with Xbox being busy buying 2005s hottest AAA studios, which release 0-1 game per decade (of which 0 are good) instead of being serious competition.

Imo. if they would have planned any meaningful drops, then they would have done that by the time the Pro launched so that they can use this Christmas to fix the shitty install base numbers.
(and to quiet down the complaining about the price of the Pro lol)
