They really drop the ball on depending on these western studios which I hope they regret now at least since western studios take longer to make games and it way more expensive compare to Japan nowadays.

I have considered that and realized that Sony would likely just raise the price of the PS5 like the retards they are.

I heard those rumors as well that it was comparable to a PS4 Pro in terms of power and if that turns out to be true PS5 is going to be a even tougher sell since Switch 2 has shit ton of games from OG Switch and possible even better future third party support.

I mean Nintendo could just be waiting since 2024 wasn't a big year for Nintendo. The most notable releases Nintendo had this year that weren't remasters or ports were Princess Peach Showtime, Echoes of Wisdom, and the new Mario & Luigi game.

I feel like Nintendo would have more of a presence at the Game Awards when they bring out their heavy hitters for the Switch 2, since last year was a decent year for them there.

Also Nintendo always announces their new consoles in their own streams before taking them to promote at outside events, the only exception are just games and DLC content.

That would certainly be nice, but games are starting to go beyond what a PS4 can do with shit optimization. Though my biggest hope is that the Switch 2 spreads like wildfire again and the Steam Machine's most popular iteration has similar power at a competitive price and they both shackle game developers into that amount of power. The only thing moving the graphics rat race is the home consoles being able to handle it and hyper top end PCs, if both are deemed dead markets suddenly graphical fidelity can contract and maybe just fucking maybe, smaller projects will become the norm again and things can contract (give me my rainbows).

Yeah, PS4 won't do. Honestly, Steam Deck barely will in 2025, possible the tail end of it going into 2026 if it has a holiday season release... The power of a PS4, a 13 year old console at that point, probably won't last long with 3rd parties.

Not that I personally need graphics any better than PS4, but for it to get good support it'll need a little more imo.
