FGC or rather, the online people that claim to play fighting games are by far some of the most prolific and degenerate gooners out there. Honestly only outstripped by like Gacha players and Resident Evil fans. Doesn't help the companies kind of lean into it too (You look at Juris CA in SF6 and tell me that wasn't intentional. Hell, they explicitly are using the Mai Shiranui barefoot version from Fatal Fury 3.)

Tifa would push a lot. Can't say if it'd be from a gameplay standpoint since she's not happening but from a gooning standpoint, she'd clear sales for the next 3 dlc passes. Especially considering all the god damn customization in Tekken 8.
 
So I'm really out of the loop on this. Can someone be kind enough to give me the TLDR of how much of a pile of shit this turned out to be?

I'm thankful I bought T7 for pennies on sale with all the DLC included, just to play it a couple days and just stick to bowling. The fighting genre is so fucking abysmal now. The PS2 era was kept alive by the 2nd gen MK games and Tekken 5. But this era has fucking nothing. I love KOF but I'll be the first to say it doesn't have a presence at all and it's being kept alive by Mexico and Brazil. SF and MK both are bloated budget mundane slop that's still supported by the faggots that need to feel apart of a collective of retards that eat up every release like it's the second coming.

What was supposed to be promising a fighting game that fixed 7's problems turned out to be worse than 7 thanks to slimy monetization, horrible collabs (Nike and Chipotle), very questionable disc-locked characters, and a meta that got worse throughout the year. Heihachi only came back because people were dropping the game, and Harada still fucked that up with a cringy disc-locked chapter and a stage you have to pay $5 to use. Nobody really wanted Lidia, and nobody said they wanted Clive over Tifa. To add insult to injury, this game has Battle Passes on top of Season passes and a fucking Cash Shop, and Harada is tripling down on the battle pass levels. I'm just waiting for a stunning and brave tranny character to get announced in season 2. Oh yea, most people who played Tekken prior to 7 really hate the Drive system because it makes and breaks matches.

The only fighting game I'm interested in is some game based on 80s franchises, but I know they're going to fuck up that up somehow. I gave up on fighting games, and I'm tired of playing 20 year-old games. The FGC is like the IWC: they're super cucked and beyond hope.

I guess if I do get T8, I'll do what I do for all these AAA titles and wait for all the DLC to complete and get it bargain bin. Play it once. And then delete it. I saw they just added Clive too. Like why the fuck would you do that over Tifa? Why use a noob FF character and not an icon?

City of the Wolves MAY be good, but it just looks like KOFXV again... so who gives a fuck.

Can't wait for Virtua Fighter 6 to show Tekken that they should've stayed true to their roots- nah what the fuck am I talking about, from that short announcement trailer it seems like they'll stick to their roots and not put in dozens of flashing lights and levels and meters and supers and fidget spinners to keep the new troon FGC fanbase occupied. The only way Westernfags will get a chance of getting a good match in Virtua Fighter is by doing arcade crawls in Japan... AGAIN.

I’ve played for a few hours now trying out Clive.
It’s pretty fun, I’m using him as a ranged fighter due to him having a few long reach moves, and he’s very strong mid range.
He’s a heavy hitter and it seems like a more tactical play style works well.
But, I suck at fighting games, so I’m sure there’s better ways to play him.

There is a really simple combo that does ~70dmg that is going to ruin a lot of games for people. f+3+4, 4,4,4, 2. (Pretty sure it’s 2 for the heavy Bahamut shot).
It’s 20f situational launcher to start, very easy to pull off.

His tracking is pretty bad though, you can sidestep a good deal of his moves, especially if he’s playing out of distance.
 
clive gets 104 dmg from a df2 launch with lvl 5 meter without stage gimmicks. i guess it doesn't get scaled as much as other moves, it's like heihachi's install but way more dmg and you can regenerate it. also does more damage than rage art. not p2w btw.

VF5 R.E.V.O. looks really bad. Sega took 20 year-old models, and made them worse. The audio sounds weird and outdated with the new graphics because Sega did nothing to enhance the character voices and sound effects. Don't be surprised if Revo and eventually VF6 gets modernized for the modern audience.

I spent my teens around furries. I spent my young adult years around "mainstream" gooners (see: literally just twitch and discord) who spam porn as a means of socializing. Porn is fucking everywhere and still, go to the most sex-infested general of a dead-ass game on /vg/ and you'll still not see half as much porn as any other fighting game thread. And it's the exact same in the FGC cause it's almost defined by "sweaty asians and thug-ahh niggas WILDIN", which includes openly admitting to wanting to suck the sweat out of Manon's ass or wanting a costume with Chunners in sweatpants.

Add in the whole tourism aspect of "Nooo I totally play fighting games! Look, all my socials is my main! I repost art of her constantly! UUooh waifu, but (un)ironically!!". You can spark a fighting debate by posting a picture of Anna from tekken 8 and that's great, but it devolves into porn immediately, and everyone can partake cause it boils down to "fighting games are one of the few last ones actively sexualizing its contents".

Maybe that's why other good fighting games fail. They make characters like "Joe Fury" and "FBI Mr. Congo". They don't make "exotic brazilian jiu jitsu niggress who's part kitty" anymore.

I'll never not like this video regardless of how dogshit fighting is, but the greatest takeaway is the last 5 minutes. Absolute peak cinema and trashtalking and hype later, "would I play tekken going forward? Fuck no it aint fun". I've been trying to get myself to play fighting games for years, meanwhile I bought battlefield 2042 on a whim; dogshit, $6, hate playing it but keep doing so. I wanna play fighting but cant even get myself to do it. It's an outdated-ass genre from a time when it mattered more about gaming in person than actually playing fighting games.

Shit, even AoE 2 got twice the player numbers of T8 right now. A cute nostalgic game people can look back on with love, actively getting new dlc and remakes and entries in the IP. Nah bro gotta slop up whatever Mr Tekken puts out! God I hate gaming.

If he left Bamco, he would have been replaced with a guy who would shamelessly push DEI/ESG and worse monetization in Tekken. Either way, Tekken 8 is still fucked even with season 2.

You still got companies trying to keep DEI shit, hoping Fink and Vanguard will give them bailout money (Crapcom, Disney, Squeenix, Bamco, WBD, Netflix, Toei, etc.). Even with Trump, this stuff is not going away because you still have DEI/ESG and BRIDGE in non-entertainment industries like automobile and food. Gaming studios are still going full retard with woke shit.
