I don't think anyone posted this, so I wanted to give a brief history of /pw/ (Pro Wrestling), formerly known as /asp/ (Alternative Sports and Wrestling). As the rest of 4chan went to shit, /asp/ was usually still pretty funny. Most of the user base was older fans of the attitude era so the board was mainly shitting on modern wrestling. They even had a few of their own lolcows, probably the biggest one was WolfpacnWoTV, a Twitter/YouTube guy obsessed with defending the pro wrestler Kevin Nash. /asp/ made up a rumor that Nash was raped in the summer of 1992 that caught so much traction Nash himself talked about it.

In 2019 a wrestling company called AEW formed, becoming the second largest wrestling company in America. A lot of AEW fans were super obnoxious and there was a lot to laugh at about AEW (hiring trannies, doing some dumb virtue signaling stuff, bad wrestling, ect) and on /asp/ it was mostly fine, although the board did take a dip in quality. In 2021 gookmoot split up /asp/ into /pw/ and /xs/ (Extreme sports) due to the latter group bitching about all the wrestling threads. I don't know exactly why it happened, but /pw/ just took the worst parts of /asp/ and amplified them.

Ever since /pw/ the board is 90% WWE/AEW hate threads (referred to as consolewar threads) obviously samefagged to oblivion. Even before the ip count removal and spam filter it was blatant. Threads not about those are usually slid off or consolewar talk is injected into them. There's about 3 schizos who do so and try to blame various Twitter users, probably because they themselves are from Twitter. I've been using 4chan less and less over the years, and used to check /asp/pw/ nearly every day. The board is a microcosm of image boards in general in the modern day, as all it takes is shit mods and a few dedicated autists to completely ruin a board.

Not necessarily on topic but this relates for 4chan:
The lack of anything good on webforums and imageboards has essentially fixed any distraction for me. I can no longer get distracted by 4chan because there is nothing to be distracted by, nothing interesting. This also applies to this website too, there's barely anything worth reading here. So, thank you tranny jannies everywhere for curing my internet addiction. But also fuck you and kill yourself nigger.

That rule is such horseshit by today's standards and in my experience it's most apparent in blatant advertisement threads on /v/ when it's enforced. Same can be said for most if not all of the rules the tranny jannies get decide on a whim what is/isn't worth enforcing that particular day. Toss a racial slur at a shill while calling out their blatant lies and false info and you're netted with a ban for racism. Crazy how astroturfed that board is with the amount of CCP shills given all the gacha threads there, among other things. What's the point of stiffling speech to such extent? Why can't I challenge certain narratives (in this case, pertaining 5th gen video games)? Is it extremely dangerous to our democracy to affirm that Mario 64 wasn't the first 3D platformer? What are we actually allowed to discuss beyond reproducing wikipedia factoids like a bot? Why can't we have an opinion on things? Why is everything remotely controversial so bad that it needs instant and harsh suppression, even when said views don't involve any political matters?

It used to be a chill board to talk about some good retro stuff. But now it is an endless juggle session of "is this retro enough that the jannys wont pitch a fit about it". They cannot handle that retro does not just mean 90s video games consoles anymore. They get really mad at you when suggest that the PS2 is now retro. They will still mald in 15-20 years when the PS3 is also considered retro.
If they want to split stuff up they could have a HD era retro and the classic era. But there would be endless sperging about that because the PS2 had a few games that ran at 1080i.

8chan only got big because Moot was being a cuck and people liked the board creation system, the Sharty only grew due to a mix of moderator abuse and the deletion of /qa, and some smaller examples like sturdychan after EPI pedotroons and other flavors of degenerates were exiled from /trash/.

Resetera mods have a clear agenda as they want to maintain an echo chamber. 4chan mods will ban you for anything because they only care about getting their ban hammer count up. They don't care about global rules, nor do they care about the artificial rules they've made for certain boards, they will just simply ban you.
