If I'm going to say something I know is particularly unpopular, or that turns out to be, I usually say it and then drop it. I have a soft rule of no more than three plies or so of replies to the same person on the same subject because nobody likes the thread shat up by dueling retards. It's also rare the discussion remains productive if it's just rehashing the same arguments.I also did the thing where I wandered off to follow other things until late 2022 when it was "safe" to come back to this topic because obedience was no longer enforced.
So I'll usually just post it and suck up the puzzle pieces or whatever (or tard rage if my impulse control is particularly low that day).
Politics is usually that kind of issue. I don't exactly make a secret my politics are at least more left than the majority leaning here, and I don't really see other relatively libtarded people doing that, and I don't pretend to have opinions I don't to fit in, but if something is going over like a lead balloon why bother?
I was generally pretty critical of Beard's filings and generally got nothing but some puzzle pieces I didn't care about anyway, since a fair amount was simply things like presentation, i.e. absolutely shitty drafting where the font would change in the middle of a table of authorities and other nerd stuff.
Also there was sort of a rule (and to some extent still is) that Multimedia threads were fan threads and not lolcow threads, and moving this to Lolcows more or less changed the rule. I doubt anyone after Rekieta is going to get that kind of treatment again, and even the Jim thread has some persistent ayylawgs (who sometimes have a point although are often just mega mad).
An even bigger rule is you don't go into cow threads (or entire cow forums) and white knight the cow. That will always just fucking annoy anyone.
