Hi, it seems like I'm confused! I thought their current desperate, obsessive mantra was that Trump was puppeteering Elon? Why are they changing their story so suddenly? What changed for them to 180 like this?
Their last attempt failed and they think inverting it might work.

it is all meant to try to get under Trump's skin and they flop from one to the next whenever it becomes obvious their latest childish insults failed.

DOGE won't be cutting anything, it's not a real Government agency.
DOGE is, at best, an advisory board. What it is supposed to do is advise on things to cut while also advertising -everywhere- the absolutely comical funding things get to provide public pressure.

Those cuts still have to pass congress

Despite the house being in recess (?) tomorrow, they'll be dragging everyone back in instead to do a spending bill vote. They're going to add a little pork (as a treat) to the Trump barebones bill to try and get people to vote for it.
So Freedom Caucus people voted against a spending bill and the way to get them to vote for it is to add pork to it?

What the bloody hell is going on?

Not that hard to understand. McCarthy removed the debt ceiling so the uniparty could do whatever the fuck they wanted spending wise and now it's due to return next year which will incredibly handicap Trump's ability to do anything budget wise and will force him to give the dems everything they want.

Tax cuts become 10x harder to pass with a debt ceiling then without. If Kamala won this would be extended until 2028 at a minimum.
They really don't want something like no OT tax or no tip tax to pass because the American public would murder them for reverting those.
I'm not sure I buy that "tax cuts are spending ackshually" thing, unless it's codified in law somewhere that seems like the sort of thing Trump will just laugh at and ignore and dare a court to stop him.
It's so retarded and self serving that it'd be bizarre for the government to not think that way
I would look very closely at the pork. Some is fine, it how you earn votes that are hesitant. "The Thin Veneer of Corruption" that politics runs on.

A massive doorstopper of pork is absolutely not allowable, and so is pork which only serves the congress critters. It needs to benefit their constituents with some kickback potential for the congress critters. A massive part of the current problem is that congress stopped doing that and just gave themselves money either directly or indirectly with the
indirect' still going to them as the majority.
When do you think politicians forgot about pork designed to help their constituents?

They absolutely need to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump because Musk lets Trump speak without filters.

We're talking about Theater Kids with rather blatant BPD and other Cluster B mental disorders. They don't care about what the insults mean, they don't care about consistency, they sure as shit don't care about logic.

They care that it might possibly upset someone they hate or at least get their attention.

Lol at Chip Roy getting dragged now for being a budget hawk except when it comes to Israel and Nancy Mace for being a budget hawk except for when it comes to Ukraine. Very principled conservatives who want to cut spending except if that money is going out of the country.

Woah both of them support J6 prosecutions and love liz cheney as well very principled! Both of these retards getting put on the primary list. Fucking Mace even said Zelensky is like George Washington. Totally sick.

Tariffs are taxes.

Because voters love the government. Currently, taxes do not even cover mandatory spending (Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, not a penny of which voters are willing to see cut) + interest. The fact that government shutdowns result in the politicians demanding less spending getting punished rather than the politicians demanding more shows what the voters want.

Americans need to pay about 20% more tax just to cover the spending they reliably vote for.

Government shutdowns are wildly unpopular.

$700 Billion in interest. End the Federal Reserve and stop paying interest to print our own money.
But that is just peanuts for bankers. The FIRE (finance, insurance, real estate) sector of our economy is up to $7 Trillion dollars now.
99% of that is unproductive economic rent-seeking. You could fund the entire government with the money the rent-seeking FIRE sector syphons from the economy.

That doesn't even touch the fuck-fuck games the oil industry plays with avoiding taxes while using the US military hegemony as security.

Another natural monopoly that spawns rent-seekers is radio spectrum rights. Include Internet cables also. They are a utility. There is no point in allowing parasites to use them as a way too suck money out of citizens.

"Intellectual Property" is the next obvious rent-seeking monopolization. Abolish it or collect all of the economic rent from allowing parasites to squat on our culture and scientific progress.

After all that you can unfuck the college loan bullshit.

Then go trust-bust the mega-corps.

But... Announce even a hint of that and you'll probably end up like Kennedy or Gaddafi.

Communist much? Getting paid for your contributions and investment in culture and science doesn't make you a parasite. If you abolished intellectual property, there'd be zero reason to create culture or science outside of "well I like it." No matter how ridiculous Disney made the whole concept, people deserve to get paid for their work.

Texas gouvernor Greg Abbott strikes again.

December 19, 2024

Texas's governor, Greg Abbott, ahead of the curve ... again

By Monica Showalter

Texas's governor, Greg Abbott, has always been a little ahead of the national news and public opinion.

He sees things others don't.
He singlehandedly shifted the public debate against illegal immigration, by flying a shipment of illegals to Martha's Vineyard, which exposed wealthy leftists in exclusive enclaves as hypocrites. Until then, illegal immigration all fine and dandy until the illegals showed up in their exclusive neighborhood. This was a harbinger of what was to come as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris opened the border wide, even distant and fancy areas were flooded with human waves of foreign migrants and yes, immigration became a top issue in the 2024 elections. It would have been ignored otherwise.

He similarly raised public awareness of the NGO migrant industrial complex in his attorney-general's prosecution of Catholic Charities for migrant laundering, demanding that the group open its books as required by law of any NGO to show what it was spending its federal cash on. The group resisted and now has a court case. That maneuver, blasted by the pope and some radical leftist bishops did much to shine a light on NGOs' role in encouraging illegal immigration based on its incentives for federal funding, the more illegal migrants it can service, the more federal cash they can access. It was unprecedented, shining a light on a part of illegal immigration that has contributed to the border surge same as cartel human smugglers and Biden himself in his policy.
Now he's stepping ahead of the curve again -- putting up billboards in multiple languages around Mexico to warn potential illegal migrants not to cross illegally in the hands of human smugglers -- they will be harmed, they will be arrested.

Bill Melugin at Fox News has a tweet of what he's doing and the approach he's taking:

The problem with for profit healthcare is it is the living embodiment of "money is the root of all evil". Medical people are like mechanics now, what are mechanics notorious for? Finding problems that don't exist, patchjobs that ensure the problem will rise up again, or straight up creating problems. If your money is made fixing problems you create a perverse incentive that a decent minority will seize upon to create more problems.
Sounds like the government to me. A good start would be regulating monopolized health care companies.

Communist? What a silly thought. The government granting censorship permission slips is the more Communistic stance.

Culture existed since the beginning of human civilization. A monopoly "right" to censor, granted by the government, is not what produced the culture of western civilization.

Patronage is actually easier now with technology. You no longer need one rich patron to sponsor you. You can collect patronage from a large pool of people. There is the upfront model (like Kickstarter), or the ongoing model (like Patreon). Nevermind that people produce culture as a natural byproduct of most of their activities.

I would be willing to compromise. Copyright in the US started at 14 years with the requirement to register by sending a copy to the Library of Congress. A 14 year renewal was available. But, back in 1776 it took 12 weeks to sail the Atlantic. Distribution is at least 6 times faster now. Copyright could be 2 years + a single 2 year renewal and be comparable to the original US copyright. Do you feel 4 years of exclusive rent extraction is enough to fund a creative work?

When do you think politicians forgot about pork designed to help their constituents?
It tracks with the modern Uniparty, so started up around Clinton, formalized under Bush, and ramped up under Obama. There was always some level of Uniparty BS before Clinton but never really formalized into an actual thing.

For fourteen years plus one 14 year extension. No longer.

If Disney doesn’t want to agree to the original terms the founding fathers established then all the creators can starve to death on the street for all I care.

Internet culture moves at 1000 times the pace culture used to move yet our copyrights are extended out so that by the time a work enters the public domain it is totally useless. Culture moving faster means the terms should be shorter, not longer.

The public is supposed to get value back for what it contributes to protecting the copyright.

Creators can establish a new fair deal or they can starve on the street while I laugh at them. The pace of our cultural development is being massively retarded to protect a corporation obsessed with brainwashing children with progressive propaganda. This is not in our national interest at all.

Star Wars should already be in the public domain. We should not be beholden to Disney for it WHO ISN’T EVEN THE CREATOR. It should already be the legal property of the fans to do with as they will.

Copyright has nothing to do with censorship at all. But saying intellectual property should be copied freely because of "muh rent seeking parasites" is nonsense straight from Marxism.

Because it wasn't enforceable when it was so hard to actually copy anything. Once printing presses were invented, it became possible to enforce copyright and ensure people were fairly paid. Plenty of societies from Australian Aboriginals to the medieval Japanese had legal structures equivalent to copyright anyway.

That's nice, but that doesn't make copyright bad or outdated. And it's not applicable at all to science. Patents are why industrialism happened in Europe, because other countries had poor to non-existent systems.

The Founding Fathers lived in an era that a 20-something who made a work would likely be dead in 28 years. That's hardly a sensible system when the average life expectancy is 80. Even 120 years ago they realized that and extended it on that basis alone.
