I would've added this reply to the OP, but no one reads it either.
I just realized that Alex has accidentally solved his scope problem all the way in that first post.
Despite his original hook, he started making a Hitman clone, but as he himself wrote:
Alex said:
Dating sim gameplay
Dating sims are just a smidgen more complicated to make than visual novels, and you can even use VN engines to make them.
If you're not familiar with the genre, or if you're confusing them with visual novels, then here's a decent introduction to the genre:
It would be a much more manageable project than whatever YS evolved into and it would easily fulfill all the April Fools 2014 promises. Just implement stealth in terms of dating sim mechanics instead of trying to copy MGS badly.

Nah, these games only look easy to make. He would have to create routines for every character and then program them into the game including all the interactions between them. With his approach to coding it is bound to end in disaster.

Also, I saw that video and the title is little misleading. By the time that game arrived, the genre was effectively on its last legs. Even if it was good, it would only be the swan song, instead it became a final nail.

He shoulda just mnade it a motherfucking visual novel, it
a) Wouldn't of sucked ass
b) would not take 10+ years to develop
c) would be really easy to do since all you need is a cracked version of adobe illustrator for the art, and the code itself can be done with something called "renpy", which, uses, well, python, s any 14 year old kid who farmed up a python "degree" on udemy can do that
It's just the concept of the game isn't bad, but boy is the execution atrocious, ISTG there's a voice inside my heard nagging me, begging me, once i fully finish up university, to just make a YS like game that does not suck ass. (But unfortunately, i have better things to do). Honestly, YS as a visual novel wouldn't suck too bad, because YS the way it's currently done is basically just a visual novel except you have keyboard controls and shitty anime graphics that are basically the equivalent of someone trying to make an anime styled map in the first counter strike game.

Had Yandere Simulator been a visual novel it would've been terrible (not that it already isn't). Anyone who's read any of Alex's fanfics or tried to check YS deep lore can tell he's not the next Kinoko Nasu or Ryukishi07.

Honestly, even with his shitty ass code, it's doable, because its finite state. You can bash your head against it and special case every permutation and assume certain things, since its a fixed line of intended gameplay. And this isn't even speculation, I'm describing how most quests and event chains in any game are written, just look at any game speedrunning community for sequence breaks and shit for places where the devs just hardcoded various assumptions.

Alex making the game an open sandbox is what fucked him, because sandboxes require a very different style of game design and implementation. The constrained scope of a paths VN would be well within even his scope. Trannies on itch do it all the time, and they're actually clinically retarded.

I don't even think he'd reach the "its so bad its good" level, its just be mid characters playing out tropes, but without establishing the trope or actually using it to achieve anything of interest, just checklisting things and assuming the player is following along and knows what they are.

That's the thing. If Alex was actually retarded he would have had a slim chance to make it by thousands of tries Forest Gump style. The problem is that he is too far up his own ass to learn anything from coding to not getting a hard on from minors.

Nah, cliches would've at least made it somewhat realistic. Alex likes to defend his shit with "well, it's a trope", but come on, even his fucking game with yandere in its title doesn't have a fucking yandere. He just slaps together what he finds edgy enough and what makes his dick hard or tries to cover plot holes and shitty world building with a bandaid.

December 20 bug fixing build (archive)
I believe I’ve finally mopped up the last remaining bugs that appeared in the game after the most recent additions! The game should be very stable now. To read a list of everything that was added/changed/fixed/improved in the latest build, scroll down past this ultra-cute drawing of Midori working a part-time job as a maid at a maid cafe by amamti777!

Future Bug Prevention

If you ever encounter a bug where the game freezes when it’s performing any action that involves a student’s likes and dislikes (such as socializing with the student or entering the “Customize Likes/Dislikes” screen of the Custom Mode menu), it means that the Topics.JSON file has become corrupted. From now on, all builds of the game will contain a backup copy of the Topics.JSON file in the StreamingAssets/JSON folder so that if you ever encounter this bug, you can manually fix it by replacing the broken Topics.JSON file with the working backup copy.

Improvements

  • All of the 1980s Mode Newspaper Club students now have unique portrait poses. (These poses have also been added to Custom Mode as options for characters’ portrait poses.)
  • There is now a new skin option in Custom Mode – the option for students to use the face texture that is associated with their hair texture.
  • 1980s Mode rivals now have face textures and skin textures that are more accurate to their official artwork.
  • Kidnapped male students now wear “burlap sacks” just like kidnapped female students.
  • Your save files now mention the in-game week/day that the save file was created.
  • All 1980s Mode Art Club members now have unique portrait poses.

Fixes

  • If the player dropped a car battery into a puddle of water while beginning any action that would cause the protagonist to enter an animation and become incapable of moving until the animation was finished, the player would enter a “dead and alive at the same time” state. This is no longer possible.
  • Inside of the protagonist’s room, if the player opened the Student Info menu, selected a “?” student, then exited the menu and returned to it, the player would be able to press a button to attempt to view that student’s info, resulting in a glitched interface. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved and loaded the game, the “Leave Note” prompt would change to “Leave Note (Kokona)” reflecting the period of time when Kokona was the only student that the player could leave a note for. Ah, nostalgic. It’s a bug, though – and this bug has been fixed.
  • If the player put a male student into the kidnapping box and then the police got called to school, the “End-of-Day Police Investigation” sequence would softlock at the point where the police were supposed to find the student inside of the box. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player alarmed a student council member while they were inspecting a suspicious object on the ground, the student council member could get stuck in the “reacting to protagonist” state and never advance out of it. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player asked the nurse for medicine while she was in the middle of returning a dropped object to its correct location, she would provide medicine and then never finish returning that dropped object. This bug has been fixed.
  • The difficulty of the “physical struggle with hero” minigame was dependent on the game’s framerate. If the game’s FPS was above 60, the minigame would become nearly impossible to win. This should no longer be possible.
  • If the player spoke to a student while a rival and suitor were having a matchmaking discussion, the “Matchmaking Results Window” could display over the “speaking with student” interface. This bug has been fixed.
  • The “The liquid flowed down the hill” error message would appear if the player spilled liquid on the ground anywhere past the running track, even if it wasn’t on the hill specifically. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player began picking a lock while they were being chased by a teacher, they would remain in the “picking lock” state even after defeating the teacher, leading to many bugs. This bug has been fixed.
  • In 1980s Mode, if the player accepted the Martial Arts Club leader’s task and then proceeded to the following day, the game would not remember that the task had been accepted. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player sent a student to their locker, then saved and reloaded, the student would perform their running animation while moving at their walking speed. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved the game while a student was burning inside of the incinerator and then loaded that save, the incinerator would not be active. This bug has been fixed.
  • After the ability to kidnap males was added to the game, the female pronouns in the Yakua’s menu became outdated. That menu has been updated to use gender-neutral terms.
  • If the player sent a male mind-broken slave to kill Raibaru and the slave failed, the slave would fail to perform the suicide animation. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player saved the game while a student was burning inside of the kiln and then loaded that save, the kiln would not be active. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player completed Gema’s task and then kidnapped him, he would revert back to his original appearance in your basement. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player assigned “Loose Socks” to a female student, that student would not wear any panties. Oops! This bug has been fixed.
  • In the “Taro and the current rival walk to school” cutscene, the rival’s eyes and Ayano’s eyes were solid white. This bug has been fixed.
  • When the Sports Club boys changed into their club uniforms, their clothing texture would appear on their skin. This bug has been fixed.
  • In 202X, if a bully girl was kidnapped, her skin would be the wrong color in the basement. This bug has been fixed.
  • Custom bookbag textures were functioning correctly on female rivals, but not male rivals. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, a panty texture was being applied to female faculty members’ faces. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player kidnapped Gema, his accessories would clip through his blindfold. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the Custom Mode menu, the gym teacher was permanently smiling. This bug has been fixed.
  • Amai wasn’t using the right eye shape in her student portrait. It has been updated.
  • Fixed typo in the elimination method labels in the Custom Mode menu.

  • Informative

WHY ARE YOU CORRUPTING FILES ON THE FLY LIKE THIS, WHAT THE FUCK. YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE STREAMING ONTO A FILE LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. CACHE, WRITE, VALIDATE YOU DUMB FUCK.

God fucking damnit I didn't even want to be mad at him today but the sheer low fucking effort of the fix. Look, this is a rookie kinda mistake, having it happen is a learning experience. Concluding "Welp here's a spare go play brain surgery on your game files, I'm goin to call that preventing issues" is fucking retarded. If you know you've got a failure state where you can corrupt modifications to a streaming file, stop fucking doing that and do it differently. Or at the very fucking least, add a startup check on the file, if its fucked then replace it from backup at startup and warn the user.

>IF YOUR TOPICS FILE GETS FRIED FROM THE SIMPLEST OF INTERACTIONS IN THE GAME, DON'T WORRY I HAVE A SPARE ONE FOR YOU

Tell me again how Alex would have been fine if this game was a dating sim.
I retract my previous post, it turns out Alex would be too dumb to implement Pong.

Alex is so clueless that he should be worried about potential lawsuits involving AI. He’s bound to cut corners in the art department, so don’t be surprised if he relies on AI-generated art just to avoid paying real artists for his mediocre video game.

He already doesn't pay artists for his assets, AI is actually a more costly and high effort option for him. Why go through the effort of setting up a local Stable diffusion, dealing with learning to prompt, and not being able to goonGame while its churning out probable misses, or paying for a generator service when retards will literally go make it for free for you.

He already doesn't pay artists for his assets
That's interesting though. When Omgayano contacted him in May of this year and told him to pay for her art, he did it without any negotiations according to her. Yet he can't pay people for actual stuff for his game? Yeah, I know, "I pay for something that is worth paying for", but still.

Speaking of which, I get that Alex would be embarrassed to admit that he lives off his parents, but long time ago after he quit working for KFF, he mentioned that he is a freelance someone. Look, I am perfectly aware that Alex is too incompetent to play a fucking game, let alone make one, or even cut his own steak, but lets entertain this idea. Who or what he could freelance for? It is obvious that he can't code, same for modeling and animating. Hell, he can't draw even, so what exactly could he freelance for? I don't know how it works, but I feel like even if people don't know how bad he is, after some time he would be found out and the word be spread around.

My question is do you think he could really work for someone, was it half-truth or maybe he just straight up lied about this?

I'd imagine he relies mostly on social guilt tripping, and exclusion. He has all these other people making things for free, do you really think you're better than them? And if they still insist on pay and Alex does want the thing, he'll pay up without fuss - but I imagine those artists all find themselves no longer being talked to about new work.

My question is do you think he could really work for someone, was it half-truth or maybe he just straight up lied about this?
I was under the impression he only ever was a freelance programmer in his claims, which would check out even at his incredibly negligent skill level. You'd be surprised how many people are too scared or incompetent to touch monetization implementation, IE the actual code to serve and get credit for serving ads. He had experience on mobile back in the day, he'd absolutely have had some familiarity with admob or the like. Whether much of that is still relevant these days is a mystery, but he does have that portfolio of old works to point out at.

Do keep in mind this is very much a benefit of the doubt thing - I'm pretty sure he'd be happy to do freelance, but just genuinely hasn't gotten anything. Assuming that a prospective client doesn't know about Yandere simulator, the biggest issue with Alex as a freelancer would be deadlines and availability - Yansim is an ongoing commitment for him. For the same cost I can almost assuredly find another english native developer with monetization experience who can deliver significantly faster as I'm not waiting for him to make a gooner update.

Ehm, no. His work at KFF consisted of fixing subtitles and some minor bugs, by his admission he was a part time intern.

December 22 bug fixing build (archive)
Oops…the previous build added one new bug into the game, and was a pretty significant one, so I’ve decided to release another bug-fixing build. Hopefully it’s the final bug-fixing build of this year!

To read a list of everything that was changed or fixed in the latest build, scroll down past this hilarious drawing of Ayano failing at video games!

The illustration was drawn by an artist named ジャッキー. (His work is 18+, so don’t click that link unless you’re of age!)

Improvements

  • Updated the Befriend/Betray cutscene to use the font color gradient that is standardized throughout the rest of the game.
  • Updated the Befriend/Betray cutscene to use the new Aishi living room model, instead of the old model from 2015.

Fixes

  • It’s not possible for the game to change the skin color of Faculty members, since their character models handle skin color differently from students. For this reason, the “Skin Color” option has been disabled when selecting faculty members in the Custom Mode menu.
  • If the player befriended a Cooking Club student and then walked nearby them while they were carrying a food tray to the bake sale, they would wave their hand, even though they were holding a tray in that hand. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, if the player assigned a rival hairstyle to one of their custom students and then tried to assign that student a custom portrait pose, the student would appear bald in the portrait preview. This bug has been fixed.
  • In Custom Mode, the game was forcing the 5th rival to always have red fingernails, even though the player might not want red fingernails to appear on that character. This bug has been fixed.
  • In the Befriend/Betray cutscene, there was a single 1-pixel-wide vertical line on the left side of the screen turning on and off throughout the cutscene. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player kidnapped a male student, the student could be seen T-posing in the basement before the player rotated the camera to look directly at him. This bug has been fixed.
  • In any “Senpai strapped to a chair” cutscene (genocide ending or 1980s Mode end cutscene), the Senpai’s body would be invisible. This bug has been fixed.
  • If the player attempted to perform Kokona’s task, the game would softlock when the player used the sewing machine. This bug has been fixed.

I'm tempted to get a laptop and make a game like this myself, but considering how he reacted to the other people who attempted to actually make something. I'll hold off until further notice, and I'd would make it2d.
Don't we have enough cautionary tales already?

I wonder how he feels about this:
