I've always found it weird and vaguely incestuous that her dad cares either way about his daughter's hairy legs, especially when she's a grown woman.

I agree with you but I looked it up and apparently it is considered to be the first day of winter "astronomically" (what ever that means). I'm sure in more Southern countries it would be closer to the start of winter but for some one in the Northern US like Gyro it sounds stupid.
