$700 Billion in interest. End the Federal Reserve and stop paying interest to print our own money.

The foundation of the entire planet's financial system is Treasury bonds. Not gonna happen.

Culture existed since the beginning of human civilization. A monopoly "right" to censor, granted by the government, is not what produced the culture of western civilization.

Just admit that you're mad that you can't pirate video games and movies without risking viruses. Not that those games and movies would exist without copyright. It's pretty hard to justify large capital outlays in enterprised you can't make any money from.

What the fuck is going on with republicans.
Short answer, the Freedom Caucus are a bunch of chucklefucks who absolutely make the perfect the enemy of the good and ruined the fully clean bill because it wasn't perfect. Now Republican leadership has to make deals to pass anything lest another shutdown fight occurs.
A fight that has never, not even once, gone well for Republicans yet idiots keep calling for it because they lack any form of longterm memory.

"A culture with no IP laws has no innovation."
Ancient Greeks, no innovation.
Romans, no innovation.
Renaissance Italy, no innovation.
The notion of copyright begins in the classical world, when a writer might have an exclusive contract with a library's scribes to produce copies, or only an artist's patron would have the right to commission copies. There was also public opprobrium and artist's marks. Patents as we know them originate with the Venetian Patent Statute of 1474.

Given that you know so little about the subject on which you have such strong opinions, maybe it's time to just relax and stop banging your keyboard so hard.

To be fair, it's the era of Trump Adjacent Ascendant. Lots of things that shouldn't go well have gone well.

But yeah they're picking a lolbertarian style fight for no reason. Let Trump get in and then work can begin.

It's good enough to give you a research target, if you recognize those limitations and work around them. It's VERY good at things like that.

"Summarize this legal bill, include references to lines and quotes you are summarizing" will get you exactly what you need to know when looking at a 1750 page bundle of pork and are looking for reasons to not pass it. "Appendix 26-B funds X. Here is a hyperlink. Appendix 76-C requires the administration to do Y (aka prohibits Trump from doing !Y), here is a hyperlink." Then you review it as a human and go "Oh, son of a bitch, it's accurate" and take action from there.
this is a good example of what it's good at but the fundamental limitation of the technology is that it's not accurate enough to function without human oversight so you still have to go through and check all of its work. that's still a much better position than just checking all 1750 pages yourself without tools to help you but in a world where we're talking about a "competency crisis" the last thing that anybody needs is a machine that does 90% of the work for you that has a 2% chance of being insidiously incorrect.

no one claimed to just run a LLM and be done with it.
even if someone is dumb enough to do it, the inevitable fuckup in that case will scare others enough to be more cautious and sensible.

besides, what's the quota for human error? you will never get 0.0% error rate without the appropriate processes, so the whole MUH AI scare is moot since those same processes would apply too. after that it's just a matter of speed and cost (which is the usual reason for fuckups, AI or not)

The current debt ceiling expires right when Trump is sworn in so if it's not increased he won't be able to do anything. We want the deportations to start right? That isn't going to be cheap up-up-front
Trump should pay for it by confiscating Congress Critters' assets. That's the kind of government overreach I can get behind.

We just need zombie Andrew Jackson. Maybe one of those biolab assholes can do something good for once.

Some garbage cracked game isn't giving me a virus through a container on a VM. I don't play modern slop anyway. It's the backdoor on the Intel or Nvidia chips in the cluster farm that will get me. That's why you only type the naughty thoughts on the ancient Libreboot thinkpad while sitting in your chicken wire faraday cage blasting Aphex Twin to disrupt glowies from recording resonance frequencies. Then make sure to rawdog post hot-takes straight from the botnet phone to let the NSA know you're just an idiot larper eating chicken nuggies in mom's basement watching 480p Russian dubbed Rocket Jox.

If there was no copyright, all movies would be My Little Pony, because Bronies will throw money at anything.

This debt ceilings issue sure is a pickle. I was confident that Lucy wasn't going to take away the football from Charlie Brown this time.

Biden took the crown with the most deportations since 2014. In fact, Obama holds the record IIRC.

This is the following quote from Republicans:

“Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, was among the conservatives who rebelled against that bill.

"Old bill: $110BB in deficit spending (unpaid for), $0 increase in the national credit card. New bill: $110BB in deficit spending (unpaid for), $4 TRILLION+ debt ceiling increase with $0 in structural reforms for cuts. Time to read the bill: 1.5 hours. I will vote no," he wrote on X.

Perhaps if you have a way of paying for it, they might pass the bill. Otherwise…

The Debt limit. But now the retards are gonna get a worse deal now that they gotta rope some Dems in.
Or the GOP could have given the FC a token win so the FC could claim a victory and everyone could have moved on with their lives.

Why was the default "lets fuck the FC over and pander to our political enemies who literally rigged at least the last 3 elections?"

Former McDonald's employee and literal African have finally forced the GOP to split issues into individual bills instead of opening their omnibussys for Democrats to sodomize

-no vote on debt ceiling for the time being
-vote on separate CR bill for funding through March
-vote on separate ag bill
-vote on separate hurricane relief bill

You know, the way Congress should handle things instead of writing thousands of pages long omnibussys
