Minimum wage in Ontario is $17.20, however Peetz is considered a home worker and they have a different minimum wage. He would be making $18.90/hour. This is the wage for any one doing a 100% remote job.

$15,000 might seem like a king's ransom to someone like Peetz, who has never had that much money at one time and who has never had to pay for kids or car payments or even rent a lot of the time. That's about a year's rent for a studio apartment, or about enough for a modest used car. Not life-changing money, but the kind of money that can help you get a leg up and make your life a little easier if you budget wisely.

I know this is old news, but damn, it doesn't get stressed enough how much this sheds a light on his attitude and mindset. Life isn't a continuous thing for him, he just expects to be able to do all the hard stuff (actually, all the stuff that isn't jacking it to teenage lesbian hentai and gaming) and get it out of the way and then just fucking slugmode in his gaming chair. What's the point of eating if you're going to need to eat again later? What's the point in showering when you'll need to shower again tomorrow? He's pathetic too. What's really punchable about James being pathetic is that he knows it and uses it. He doesn't use it all that well but it did get him his manchild room in that nice elderly couple's home for next to nothing on rent. Someone mentioned earlier that his rent is $350 CND a month, which is about $250 USD a month. That's probably enough to cover his utility use with maybe a little bit left over. The reason it's so low is because the elderly couple are friends with his Mom and are absolutely doing her a favor by letting her shit stain of a son live there.
I also seem to remember that when he got set up to live in that room he said it was temporary. Kind of place where he saved up enough money to go live in a real place is what he told the 50 or so people watching him. So what happens when he has enough money? He quits his job because rent is $350 anyway and working with mildly annoyed customers is too hard.
You just know he puts on that pathetic song and dance with that nice old couple every time he crawls out of his room. "I wish I could work but they were treating me unfairly...", "I probably have a disorder and its hard to get out of bed... Then his 'complaints' about the job: you have to be responsible for your own customers and email them back. You also get 2 and a half hours a day to follow up customers. Do you know how rare that is for a customer service job? Most of them expect you to not only follow up with your current customers, but take on new ones at the same time. When he bitched that he's expected to actually take accountability for people he's spoken with and not just palm them off to someone else I wanted to tell him what a piece of shit he was. Nothing is worse than a co-worker who won't take responsibility.
I've said this before but there's no helping him. He doesn't even have the mental capacity to apply common sense to such basic situations.
