Phil acts like he wasn't a joke since grade school. If he was so unoffensive in his younger days, he would have at least one friend to speak of in the last 25 years that could vouch for him not being a piece of shit.
Like I'm a degenerate but could find 10 people I've met since grade school that would stick up for me. Phil thinks he was beloved in the early 2010s because he was making money, but it was just because he was early to the party. His schtick has been stale since people who put more effort into making Youtube content came along, and he has never corrected that. And I'm not even saying background or hardware wise, just the effort of not doing the same boring thing. His content since 2017 has been 1 camera focused on a chair/couch and that's it. He's a boring boomer-like clown who had 1 small window of success and thinks that would have sustained forever if it were not for people calling him out.
That is one thing Phil fails to realize: he was at the GROUND FLOOR of YouTube. There was one point in time where Phil's videos were featured on the front page of YouTube, however, Phil is the textbook definition of lazy. If he JUST gave a fuck about the quality of his videos and put a HINT of effort into it, he could've been on the levels of Pewdiepie. Or, hell! Just paid an editor to edit that slop he used to spam YouTube with. Hell, this asshole was too lazy to put a 10 second clip of the Machinima logo in the beginning and/or the end of his videos when he was a partner with them....he told Machinima "That's not my job, you have someone else do it." He could splice those 4 hour videos into ten minute segments, throw a thumbnail of the game he found on Google, and add a number to it, but dropping a clip into the timeline of Windows Movie Maker, nah dood! Couldn't do that.
That is the other thing that is part of Phil's personality - he thinks money makes the person, when in actuality, money can't buy class or take the lame out of you. If you were a lame before money, you're still a lame...but, you have a fatter wallet. Money can't buy respect or admiration or make you a better person and that is the one thing Phil has failed to realize.
Also, Phil didn't use "direct capture" until 2014, which he was YEARS behind everyone else. Someone said this on Twitter, with his current setup, that this is the setup of someone from 2012 with RGB lights and basically putting calling it a e-thot setup.
Phil at one point in time had that window of opportunity to be in the Mount Rushmore of YouTubers, but decided to just coast, not realizing that being a streamer is about experimentation, changing with the times, and being entertaining. Phil is entertaining....but for ALL the wrong reasons. he's the head clown of the LOLcow circus, but he fails to realize this.

Phil's correct, his bizarre existence has prominantly impacted the internet, and technically therefore life.
I don't know if I'd agree with his summarization that it's overall "positive", it's been a very mixed bag (although I think it's positive because it's funny and that's all I care about), but nobody can argue the enigma that is DarkSydePhil hasn't had an unusually large effect on internet culture, especially when you take into account how few other people have had a hand in Philburt's "career".
