Is it possible that Nick grew up in a similar environment to the one he is generating? Most of us, myself included, like to think that his parents were good people going to herculean efforts to tardwrangle an unwrangleable tard, but is it possible that his freshman tardery was the result of coming from a chaotic environment and not having time to breathe? It wouldn't justify the future acts of dipshittery, but is it possible that his parents were also hedonists who neglected him? I know he laments that they didn't share about their sex life (disturbing statement), but were they heroes fighting an impossible battle or similar degens? Do we know one way or the other?

Nick self-identified as an arsehole nerd who liked to game and had not a lot of friends. He had no highbrow hobbies like art, debate, violin, or dance.

Midnight piano recitals are a very highbrow hobby! Nick also frequently tries to see how high his brow can get on coke (or whatever the drug du jour is). Those eyebrow hairs probably have a ton of drug metabolites in them.

They did send him to a better school (Minnesota State, I believe) where he flunked his classes the first year...by not showing up... After that was his transfer to the less expensive and prestigious SMSU where he finally completed his degree.

The accounts I remember are that Nick stayed at home and went to a local community college his first year after which he transferred to SMSU which isn't much better than a community college. I don't remember him going to Minnesota State or him failing out of Minnesota state.

Oh? Had not been aware of that (or forgot...always possible).

But to be clear, MNSU is not a prestigious school. It's ranked 60 of 165 "regional Midwest universities." It's a solid choice for commuters and very very mid HS graduates. That's truly not a dis - it's OK - but you're not going to find a lot of high-end achievers there. Caveat: it is affordable, so you may find quality people there who don't have means to go elsewhere. That's not Nick.

And I'm going to say it takes a LOT of effort (fuckery) to fail out.

Tl; dr: Nick has always been a lazy fuck with minimal intellect.

Eta: if he went to one of certain community colleges, that is considered part of the MN state school system, which is confusingly not quite the same thing as Minnesota State.

I guess the phrase "have a white Christmas" must be banned in balldo household, huh? Hopefully the loser addicts of the family can be at least sober for one evening. It must suck for the kids to have such failure of parents. Maybe grandparents can salvage Christmas for them.
Where do you think Ape will spend Christmas? Wherever she lands it will be awkward :story: No job, no house, no husband, no bf, with felony over the head.

The court system of rural minnesotta more than likely doesnt know we exist, and keeping it that way is probably for the best. Getting involved in Nick's legal issues in a manner that extends past polite requests for data, or sitting in a courthouse, is a Terrible Idea and liable to get a spotlight put on the forum that it really doesnt need. The farms already has a terrible reputation, and it isnt entirely unearned either, so doing anything to make it worse to people that actually have power to swing a cudgel at our heads is a really awful idea.
God forbid the Sauronic eye of the Deep State of Spicer, MN turns upon the Kiwi Farms.

I love the confidence but I'm still trying to place this location:

Good news, if I ever find myself in Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud, or Willmar I know the best bars and hotel lobbies. (Should anyone care to be a fellow stalker child there is writing on the lampshade and the brick wall behind the bar leans to the historical section of Minneapolis. The black chest is an antique machinist chest that dates to the 1920s.)

Don't ask how I know but that one's most definitely their delightful visit to the Hewing Hotel in the North Loop:

Hewing.jpg

Although she posted the photo on July 21st, the absent three-wolves tattoo means the photo was taken anytime before the weekend of July 13-14 but after Nick gave her that watch, and was it likely a separate trip altogether when considering that the tattoo festival was way over at the RiverCentre in Saint Paul, over an hour away from the Hewing by light rail or almost a half hour by car when counting the search for, and walk from, event days' sparse parking. There wouldn't have been much reason to stay at the Hewing that weekend and it would have made more sense on some other June or early-July trip to catch a Twins game or concert at Target Field a stone's throw away.

Anyway, why won't this cheap loser treat the love of his life to the JW Marriott or at least the Four Seasons? Fucking pathetic.

Nick had a girl talk shower call bench talk with K at the courthouse:
More 'not an addict', 'easily quit', 'kids never abused' talk. Nick told her that they've been proud of the oldest and they've been 'leaning on him for support,' she goes into her experience with the parentification of her sister.

Edit: Forgot to add, everytime she tried to respond to him he looked away, making it obvious he didn't give a shit what she had to say. After saying he's not an addict he said "Those were just fun things to do."
She noticed his eyes were really blue again as opposed to them being "really dark" before. 'Seemed clean and sober'.

Nick just cannot help himself. He needs to correct all the narratives, control everything.

What a massive faggot.

I will try to verify the actual identity of the first school, but he most definitely said he flunked his first year by slacking off. That I remember specifically because almost none of his credits transferred.

Seeing this post gives me a sense of vertigo, I have to check if I'm on the Rackets thread or the Fuentes thread.
That is the solution to all troubles. Kayla gets settled with a new Nick who is a just as big faggot and failure, while Balldo elopes with his soulmate April to do drugs in Vegas with Fatrick.

I don't think it needs to be said, but "leaning on your minor child" for support is a sign of a failed parent

While it can be fun to nitpick someone's academic background, a lot of school (especially law school) snobbery is misplaced. I'll note that both Nick Rekieta, a sleazy criminal scumbag non-practicing lawyer, and Judge Steven Wentzell, the judge deciding his criminal case, went to the same law school, a fourth-tier toilet called William Mitchell (now Mitchell Hamline).

Look at the relative trajectory of their legal careers.

Meanwhile I've known Harvard Law School graduates who were absolute idiots (although the smartest lawyer I ever met was from HLS).

It is literally textbook narcissistic abuse for the oldest child to end up having to take over the duties of the useless, worthless parents at an early age, robbing them of their childhood.

Who would openly fucking admit to being this worthless?

I have responded in both Nick threads momentarily thinking I'm in the other Nick's thread and had to delete it instantly to avoid (more) embarrassment.

Bingo. It IS child abuse. There is zero reason to use your child as a crutch for your sobriety (lol), your emotional dysregulation, or ensuring YOUR responsibilities towards HIM.

I hope he nopes out of there as soon as the opportunity arises and gives nary a glance back.

Hopefully he has a way to even realize what they're doing is wrong

Oh no, how long until that dippy bitch Kayla starts coming on to the oldest boy with a bunch of talk about how he's just like his dad, only better and more manly and responsible. I'm now bracing for this to turn into the reverse Thorps.

The worst part is I'm only like half kidding, fucked up families like the Balldos are where shit like that comes from.
