You're not missing much, but here's a kicker: he needed another animator to make the Xmas video, and it still flopped. He got another animator to work on a 45-second video. This isn't the case of something like a studio getting different animators for different projects. It's Doobson being lazy because he wants to do the bare minimum, and get a six-digit salary with someone else doing the work he should be doing (there's no exuse for Doobson). The Banjo video is lackluster because it's just Doobson and his usual screaming. There are no references from the series and little to no gags. Just watch Terminal Montage's Banjo videos instead.

The Little Mac Doc video was fine, but that's only because he's using something pre-existing to make visual haha's over, so it's a piss-easy attempt, like how other youtube artists use audio from shit like OneyPlays to make visual gags over what is being said. That said, he should ditch the Lythero shit. It's basically him making animations from a knock-off brand of more successful let's players.

But even then, these are things that can be done once in a while in-between his more "actual effort put in" work. What he SHOULD do is have a mental bleaching, and what I mean by that is take a fucking break from the internet, look at his past videos, see what works and doesn't work, and just brainstorm newer ideas with a fresh mind, even if it takes months for a new cartoon to come out.

It's like his actions are contradicting each other. He wants to make this somewhat professional and at the same time he's half-assing it and flying by the seat of his pants with no clear gameplan.
