Warhammer 40k

I can't think of a time when Kroot have been anything other than a fucking joke. They're mediocre in melee, terrible at shooting, have no armor... I'm sure there's a few other downsides I'm missing.
Back in I think 7th you could give them sniper rounds for like 1pt per model which made them AP2 on a 6 to wound, stick them in a forest and because of stealth or shrouded they would have a 4+ cover save.

So you could get a cheap, hard to kill unit that would occasionally kill terminators or wound characters that people wouldn't want to prioritise over bigger threats.

Yeah, but they were still just 24" unlike everyone else's sniper rifles that were 36", on top of Kroot being BS3 unlike everyone else's snipers (Scouts, Ratlings) that were BS4. And because their Stealth only applied in Forests, while loreful, fucked them when the battle took place literally anywhere else since they only had a 6+ armor save otherwise.

If Stealth applied more generally, and their Kroot Rifles were Assault instead of Rapid Fire so they could be used more easily as cheap melee forces, then they'd be an excellent choice.

Funnily enough I was part of the Firestorm over Kaurava mod team for a little while and even before 5e dropped we decided to boost Kroot and Vespid armor saves up to what they'd be in 5e since they were completely fucking useless otherwise with Kroot losing so horribly to Guardsmen at range they struggled to make it to melee due to their lack of an armor save, and same deal with trying to close the gap with 5+ Vespid against their intended targets of MEQ's.

I just have a kill team of them from the Into the Dark box. I keep saying I'll get around to getting them put together because them being a guerilla war fighting group sounds cool and all they are is just a shade of death guard green with some bits. But I never have any motivation to get around to them. Just sitting on sprues.

The fucking tourist grifting article is by Jon del Arroz, is from Comicsgate Community and often in posts in the Kiwi thread himself, though not as much before his wife said he abused her or something like that, it's in there.
Useless cunt has been making the Cavil is leaving Amazon YT videos or woke GW but also got takedown or cease and desist from GW of a "homage" tribute comic that basically had space marines but only difference in design was one eagle head instead of two for imperial icons.

Do you guys think it's worth getting into 40k in Current Year? I've been vaguely interested in playing for over a decade now but my only actual tabletop experience playing it was a demo game of Kill Team 5 years ago.
My favorite subfactions are the Kroot and Death Korps and seems like the Kroot have gotten a decent amount of support this year (even if they still suck according to this thread recently?) and Death Korps are getting some new models next year too so I figure if I'm going to get into the game now is as good a time as any. I've already got a decent painting/modelling setup from when I used to paint/kitbash RPG minis so I won't have to invest in that at least.

Death Korps getting plastic models soon so you could have 2k points of Krieg in plastic no problem.

Plenty of people paint and collect only. Stats thrown around that on average someone who buys 40k will play 1 game a year or something.

You could 3d print cheaper, but if you intend to play at a store somewhere, just buy.

Sounds like you'll take the plunge sooner or later, later will just penalise you with price increases, delaying painting your army and delaying the enjoyment.

Despite what gay doomers will tell you on the online, you can still buy, build, and paint models and have fun doing it. Gw is currently more profitable than ever, same with Warhammer, and 90% of the models are pretty good looking. That might ruffle some of the oldfag's feathers, but ignore them and have fun with your little plastic soldiers. Just recently a lot of people also reccomended books, if you were interested in the lore aspect. I know specifically the book Krieg is pretty alright as an intro to DKoK. Unfortunatelt Tau proper doesnt even have novels, so youre SOL there.

Krieg and Deadmen Walking are both 2 good entries for DKoK.

And as for models you can just build out 2 boxes of the Kill Team for the full range or use a decent alternative 3rd party not DKoK that’s been floating around.

If you're a chud and don't want something wokeified, get into it. Be the change you wish to see in the world, and don't let the wokescolds or doomer grifters tell you otherwise.

The Kroot have been a lot more fleshed out in terms of models available but not really enough to run them in a 2K game. You could play them quite comfortably in a 500 to 1000 point though. As for DKoK you may as well wait a while until the full range comes out next year and play your favorite WW1 enthusiasts

Ah, perfect timing my friend, the most perfect, beautiful army is allegedly being shown off tomorrow.

Why did no one tell me commission painting was so lucrative? Ive made like 900$ just painting peoples miniatures this month
Yeah but you gotta be good.

Im just accepting that the process is prime, airbrush base majority, base, wash, 1 highlight and call it a day is best for sanity.

They already experienced that with both Pathfinder games and raged about 'em.
