The Official Pizza Thread - Discuss all pizza here

There is literally nothing wrong with anchovies on pizza.
I think I may have shared this story before, but the last time I was able to get anchovies "on a pizza" from a major pizza place... They came unopened in a can in the box with the pizza. Because the pizza place wouldn't cook them on the pizza because of the smell.

The fuck?

They don’t even smell that bad.

I’m torn on whether or not to tip for that since you got a free can of anchovies out of it, but just putting them on a an already cooked pizza is kinda weird.

It's more likely they refuse to do it because it's a common prank to order anchovies on pizza because so many people hate it.

In a situation where accommodating anchovy-enjoying customers and indulging pranksters was an issue, the better option would surely be to not offer anchovies at all. Keeping canned anchovies on hand to hand out with the odd anchovy pizza is bizarre.

Beats me. That's the explanation I was given when I complained.

It was a Papa John's, for the record.

That's the smartest thing I've ever seen.

The weird part is the dry milk, I assume that's a big contributor to the flavor and texture folks remember.
It gives a better taste and fluffier texture to the dough. Since you bake it at relatively low temperature and it's thick, it's needed, since there's not enough heat to inflate the crust (which there is none)

I was looking into how Ancient Romans would have made Pizza or something similar to it, this would have been a similar recipe around the 1st century AD, obviously no Tomatoes because those werent known to Europeans being originally grown in Mexico until the 16th century, apparently they used a Cheese and Garlic spread called Moretum that they would just spread on top of the bread
