Canada is a failed state

I also consider it fascinating how massively the Catholic church was sidelined by the Quiet Revolution and the importation of the new religion of laïcité from Metropolitan France.

The Catholic church and its promotion of large families (revenge of the cradle) was really what allowed Quebecers to overcome the demographic shortcomings that they faced at the start of 19th century (Montreal and the Eastern Townships were majority Anglo in the into the mid-1800s), and it was through the pioneer initiatives of the priests that there are even French communities west of Quebec (exception of Manitoba)- though the Anglo Ontarians won in the long run after Riel.

All now dust in the wind of course.

People who were actually born in Canada like us deserve jobs here more than Indian immigrants, who don't even bother to learn fucking English.
Most eerie thing about it is how you never see them as out in public, at least in my area. Walking down the street all the people around you will be the usual mix of Whites and east Asians, but the moment you walk into any store every single employee is a barely-intelligible fresh-off-the-boat Pajeet. Even if you're the most anti-racist and pro-immigration person ever, that has to seem wrong to you. They're a literal slave caste.

Is there hope for the Leafs, then?

It’s been brought up - a lot of Canada’s reputation for “Niceness and Tolerance” is performative at best. The thing with Performative Tolerance, it folds fucking FAST when things go to shit.

And well, we’re only not technically a Failed State because I doubt the American’s would tolerate a Failed State sharing that large of a land border. The Good Times are LONG since gone, and now that it’s starting to effect the part of the country who’s vote actually matters (read - Toronto through Montreal/Quebec City), you can see the mask starting to slip.

We’re not going to see a comeback to the Canada responsible for a shocking number of the Geneva Suggestions, but this entire country is a pressure cooker ready to go. I’m just wondering what’s going to set the whole thing off, and if I’ll have enough popcorn to watch the dumpster fire…

A lot of that polite niceness came from the British - if you look at how countryside British interact, it's basically the same thing.

What is changing is with increasing populations, and both cultural and generational shifts, that polite niceness and tolerance is going away. What that will evolve into from the social tensions is going to be a concern.

Socially acceptable lynching will definitely be a switch.

Also IMO the funny thing is that just like the US Constitution, laïcité was designed in the context of a majority-white, culturally Christian society.

The moment multiculturalism becomes a serious thing with competing power centers (i.e. Islam), it begins to break down, as the government tries to squash its perceived rivals whle trying to avoid looking like it's targeting them specifically, which means that everyone gets oddly expansive rules instead, while even more of that cultural Christianity gets stripped out of the public realm as friendly fire (i.e. the Crucifix in the Quebec Parliament).

And Muslims won't listen anyways lol

It's not Brampton that was to be known as Bramaladesh - it's Bramalea. Brampton had a lot of old stock white Canadians - Bramalea, which is a failed planned "satellite city" that resides in Brampton and why the neighborhoods in it are divided differently than the rest of Brampton. It is approximately less than a 20 minute drive (twenty years ago, traffic now makes it way longer) from the Bramalea City Center (both the mall and the fact it is the center of this "satellite") to the airport which you can conviniently find by following Airport Rd.

If you grew up in the area, you were told that there was an extremely high number of Indian immigrants because basically it was the closest place to the airport and they didn't bother to settle any further when they landed. And then all of their extended families came.

There was a growing number of Indians pockets of other places in Brampton, but they were mostly in Bramalea and other people in Brampton would call this area Bramladesh. Now the entirety of Brampton carries the moniker they made up to make fun of their own Indian population before the take over.

Furthermore, there have been Indian gang wars since 2007 in Brampton. Except it blended into the local gang wars that spilled over from Rexdale and Toronto so no one understood the deep dynamics "the brown side" had within itself. Now that "the brown side" has essentially taken over, they have nothing left but to fight themselves.

Brampton had nothing going for it forever and that was the weak point Indians could exploit as who cares. Who is going to Brampton for fun. Why does anyone need to go? Brampton had no identity and now they've lost any chance of one to the Indians pretty much forever, I think. Even if they pushed out a big number in the country, Brampton will always be a safe haven for Indians. Thankfully, there was nothing going for it anyways so there's nothing we will really miss about it unless you personally grew up there. And if you did, the Indians were part of the experience anyways. If you have memories past the Indians, you remember when Bramalea was literally just farm land like Mayfield.

Maybe we just sacrifice Brampton to India completely but also build a wall around the city so once you're in you stay in and adapt Mad Max driving skills for survival.

Not sure how many of you are into cars, but Throttle House is usually shot in Canada. Since I am not a Leaf and have never been to the People's Republic of Canadia, it was a rather insightful overview of the city, albeit limited.

They reviewed these two old German luxobarges (I am biased towards the W140) in the bustling city of Toronto, and are going to take them on a journey across Ontario and into Quebec. One of the first things Thomas mentions, is that the Toronto streets are pretty rough so his 7 Series with its low profile tires is gonna take a beating. Also the traffic looks pretty heavy in some areas, but you can't do much to fight that. I am rather surprised that the roads are in poor state in Toronto.

Next, Kensington Market looks like hobo central, but still rather comfy if all you want is to grab a bite and keep going.

Oof, that's a yikes from me.

Then they drove up to the Canadian National Exhibition.

Who comes up with this shit?! come on man. But overall, looks like a nice place to chill and play some games.

Then they drove up to Yorkville, "Toronto's Beverly Hills". Nice area, I suppose this is where all the brocialists hang out.

But at the most shocking events happen at night; leaving aside that their cars are not very well maintained and had some issues with them, their truck with all their camera equipment and stuff got broken into. And in the end of the episode (preview of their upcoming episode), looks like their shit got stolen, again... I am assuming that's in Montreal.

Is it really that unsafe over there? are the roads as rough as they say?

Just chiming in to say FUCK CANADA POST. Ordered a package, set to be delivered a few days ago. Come the day of delivery, it gets Return To Sender'd, apparently for an "addressing error." The issue is that, according to Canada Post, the "sender," is listed as ePost Global, who initially handled the package from the States, to Leafland, and then passed it off to Canada Post. This doesn't seem like it should be an issue, except that this package requires COD, which, of course, ePost Global isn't going to pay for me. According to the delivery tracker, the recipient refused the package, so... now what? Did ePost Global take it to ship back to the States? Or is Canada Post just sitting on it? I did some digging, and it turns out that Canada Post is just Return to Sender'ing loads of packages over dubious claims of "addressing errors." I contacted the company I ordered from, and they're cool just repacking and reshipping it when it arrives, but I guess that "when," has become an "if." These bitch-ass flyer jockeys piss me off to no end. I've never had a single issue with any of the major, private shipping companies, just Canada Post.

tl;dr I hate CP so fucking much, it's unreal
