Yes Elon is wrong. There are mass layoffs because companies in the US don't give a damn for worker's rights, let alone citizen workers. There are thousands of fresh engineer grads desperate for work, but they also want actual pay and not peanuts so Elon thinks they don't exist

No. H-1B visas are awarded almost exclusively for computer-related occupations (for some reason, every other engineering field doesn’t need immigrants) and we graduate more CS majors today than at any point in history.

We also need a lot fewer software engineers because one American is equal to at least an entire team’s worth of Indians.

If our education system turns out retards, why do Indians get American Masters degrees and enroll their anchor babies in American public schools? That’s because India’s education system is so bad it makes Baltimore Public Schools look like Stuyvesant.

I was just mentioning that American Education has a lot of problems. I think people have this idea that America Education is really good because that used to be true, but we are living in 2024 and that's not the case anymore. I could go on for hours and hours on how we could improve education but it would be just sperging out into the void.

2) India isn't even in the PISA score so we cannot check comparison, making this comparison retarded. We don't know their scores. Yes, it's probably bad, but this graph says nothing about it.
3) United states has scored terribly in 2024, with a 9 in reading, 16 in Sciences, and a staggering 34 in Math. Half of Asian countries are above US. Guess which skill Engineering needs the most (its Math).
4) PISA scores check the median of scores. They don't account for HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GRADUATING, so this shit means nothing. It also doesn't account for poor countries having a big range of skill levels compared to first world countries.

Even if we say he's not wrong - therein lies the problem: we're in a continual downward vortex for Americans because there is no functioning long-term vision amongst politicians or the working class for improving things for ourselves in the long run - because in the short term, oligarch CEOs and private equity chuds will reward those in power through making choices that result in short term gains for the already wealthy. God forbid we care about those around us.

I think, especially among the Indian CEOs and political appointees there needs to be a pointed question of: what are you materially doing to improve America for most Americans - or is it a grift for yourself and those abroad? Because it should be abundantly clear from their body of work what their priorities are.
