“Industry experience” is what gets you hired for 300k a year. My research gives me “industry experience” in a very niche field and I have occasionally been offered (paltry) consulting fees by people coming to me. If industry experience is competing with greenhorns the greenhorns have every right to be worried.

"Industry experience" for programmers is next to impossible to acquire for people who didn't have impeccable college pedigrees. Management is of the opinion that you can offshore almost all junior roles and have a few senior developers in the US micromanage them. This never works and you'll end up re-doing most of the Indians' code: they will never admit that they don't understand something you said; they'll just agree, and the next day you get to re-do all of their work.

Unfortunately, this means that real senior developers are going to be rare in the US, and you'll have to hire them by H1B visa. Unsurprisingly, most of the senior developers you hire by H1B have the exact same problems as the offshore junior developers.

It sounds like there needs to be a test or a certification similar to what engineers get. But even then that’s a choice we make a few years in our career, HR is not going to be reading your GitHub project for auto translating doujinshi novels to check for proper documentation. It sounds like they are blindly grabbing the best looking thing they can find

The standard approach for programmers is to have a stage of your interview which is an Introduction to Algorithms quiz-show. It's not really that hard if you actually passed college, but brushing up on your self-balancing tree algorithms (which you almost never use) before every single interview is extremely annoying.

There's no certification because there's no objective standard for what good software is. IEEE tried to create a software engineering discipline, but it turns out almost nobody wants to pay for formal verification of programs, so almost nobody cares.

I was a bit bored this few days and i decided to explore reddit for myself a bit , see what i find but there is something a bit odd going on with reddit, mainly with the spanish speaking side of it.

It seems there are a lot fewer jannies if any on hispanic subs and a lot of stuff you would never expect to see on post-2016 reddit is showing back up again.
People are calling trannies men and making fun of people who date them for being gay and getting upvotes for it without repercussion.
People are being xenophobic towards foreigners and illegal immigrants openly.
Even in historically pozzed subs like r/argentina the tide has turned very badly for leftist sand they get mocked and memed on

Its weird. It seems in my own country sub some of the most obnoxious users fled or just make post whining about the chuds who post on the sub. The entire site does seem more barren and slow now, even in subs with a lot of subscribers. Maybe the holiday season, maybe troons have 41%, or fled to Bluesky but they don't have the grip that they used to , at least in spanish speaking subs.

r/argentina is because the Peronists and other left-wing dipshits in the country itself have been felted so unbelievably hard by Presi-King Milei's success that they are seething impotently on a nonstop basis. Yeah it's a bit odd because being an engineering grad doing research means you are basically the only person on the planet who has hands on experience with a particular engineering field while being a CS grad is being paid to do odd jobs for the engineering department.

I've also noticed that CS people are basically pessimistic techpriests at this point and I understand the need for filtering. I can and will compulsively explain why shit happens at a molecular level with my process and despite the fact I outrank, have taken 4 comp sci classes, code ladder, C, and assembly, have no issue explaining exactly what needs to get done will be told it's impossible by a dude right out of college the second it touches anything more complicated than a PLC.

I am so thankful I switched to engineering in college. I would have trooned out and been unemployed 100% by now because if people allowed "it cannot be done" as an argument I would have been that chudjack meditating telling my boss that nothing ever happened.

I'm getting my masters in CS rn and I immediately learned to never browse that subreddit because it was literally just all doomposting from lazy idiots who thought getting a bachelors in CS and nothing else would be easy money and are now distraught at the idea that they have to make themselves look competitive in a competitive market, especially in the current job market being raped by biden. Literally zero helpful information or insightful discussion.

I'm not sure how it is for other majors but generally employers want someone who is actually able to prove they can do the things they say then can do. If you have nothing on your Github, don't know VCS, never did internships, and show basically no interest in skill development or learning things beyond what you're forced to learn, you're not going to beat out the guy applying for the same job who has actual industry experience.

In my experience, I've seen a lot of people say you only need a bachelor's for CS, but that's only true of you're trying to become a software engineer. Which has traditionally been considered the "hottest" role in the field, the really lucrative one that can grant you a zillion hundred thousand dollars per year... but as Elon and his cronies have lately been drawing attention to, is being rapidly outsourced and AI'ed.

The subreddit has devolved into literal stalkers, harassers, and for our entertainment, doxers. Now, obviously I'm a farmer, I give zero fucks about doxing, but what's important is they continue to break TOS by doing so. Something which everyone ought to know if they participate on Reddit (Rule 3). How is some of the doxing they do not doxing?

Our story starts here (A). Angel on Earth is a stalker child of the cow who HAD a TikTok covering the cow. I archived the post little early but in the comments she said she had good information on "Sarah" who is a moderator on TikTok for the cow. What was the information? A teeny tiny baby dox which included the moderators Facebook and home town.



How does Sarah respond? With a full blown dox of Angel's Amber's face, address, ect. This was done on TikTok first and soon afterwards Reddit (which is what's archived)
