I find it amusing that out of all of Don Ho's politisperging, it was one of the most benign spergouts of his that managed to cause such a massive uproar. Also showed how Lunduke is an outrage farmer more than he is a journalist.
I know it might sound odd, but Don Ho really mellowed the fuck out with his activism. Nowadays, if he dedicates an update to some cause, he will sperg about it on his site, but the only sign of it you will find in the program itself is if you go out of your way to open the About window. Even better, the Elon Musk update wasn't even branded that way, it was only on his page. The only way you'd get exposed to it is if you still haven't learned about winget being a thing.
The absolute peak of his spergery happened in 2015, when the Charlie Hebdo attack happened. That's when he released the "Je Suis Charlie Edition" that, after the first launch, would slowly autotype his message without any user input. If you look around online you'll find how badly it freaked people out thinking that Notepad++ got compromised, because obviously people would freak the fuck out and think they got a virus. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find that version with ease, including the part of the code responsible for the autotyper.
Don Ho actually learned from his mistakes and never preached his prayer the same way ever again. In many ways he is the sanest leftie politisperg in the FOSS world today. I honestly find it commendable it took him two fucking years since the war in Ukraine broke out before he released another Don Ho Special Edition™, and it was about Taiwan's sovereignty, and IIRC he is part-Taiwanese so at least he has some reason to give a shit about it.
I fear how bad the outrage would be if he pulled the same autotyping stunt today if it took this little to set people off.
