Wonder if they did anything to help Uncle Hugo's in Minneapolis get back on their feet after the riots torched them, or if 'that's juss reperashuns'.
Uncle Hugo's had a long history of hosting signings for Larry Correia, IIRC might have even been the first bookstore to actually carry his novels when he was self-publishing. The SFWA probably danced in the ashes, at least metaphorically.

"Impacted authors in conflict zones", Waiting for the SFWA sponsored crusie missiles in Ukraine.

None of them did shit.

Genuinely one of the most vapid understandings of TCfL and like Christianity I've seen, really fucking painful to listen to.
I love that book.
Absolute top tier bedtime material.
It's comfy, intriguing, and poignant.
Anybody who doesn't like, or at least respect it needs to be fed feet-first into a woodchipper, and have their anguished cries mixed with grinding machinery sampled for Industrial music.

She liked it she just had a very vapid understanding of it it's incredible.

That's kinda worse.
I think I started reviewing a book once, but I stopped, because I realized that opinions are fundamentally worthless, because people listen to the ones that affirm their pre-existing biases, and discard the ones that don't unless you hit them during a preestablished crisis moment.
There is I think, nothing worse than being agreed with for entirely the wrong reasons.

I mean, they are and academia's all kind of a big scam after a certain point.

I think a piece of art should be analyzed for the depth/contribution to humanity and for entertainment value. Canticle's on my TBR for the year. I look forward to reading it.

Brandon Sanderson loves him some fags and troons, and is burning to tell the world all about it. In excruciating detail. I just skimmed it, because this shit is getting tedious.

On Renarin and Rlain
Was a bit surprised to find that this had not been previously archived.

How soon until we get Brenda Sanderson?

Very strange detour into how Mormons are so picked on because Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a short story with some inaccurate information in it. Dude should have gone for the straight up Mormon hate in a cowboy novel by somebody who knew the creed...

...the Mormons in this novel are basically 19th century Scientologists. Except even more violent and slimy. I gotta give it a re-read at some point.

I honestly have no memory of any homosexual characters in the Rose of the Prophet series, which I read a long time ago. The main story was literally the "enemies to lovers" trope writ large, but entertaining for all that. I assume it was the effeminate slowly, corrupted magician? I can guarantee there was nothing explicit and I guess if "coded" or (even better) "queer-baiting" language was used it sailed over my head. I'm such an innocent and ingenue and all that.

Has there ever been a Mormon who wasn't a deviant piece of shit? Of all the well-known Mormons today one's a scummy Neocon, one's a troon chaser author, and the other is a pornstar who abandoned her family and church to go have sex with black guys in California.
Tracy and Laura Hickman, and Margaret Weis. They seem pretty chill, even based at times, regardless of what you think of TSR-era Dungeons and Dragons (I know people have very strong feelings on Dragonlance).

Larry Corriea is pretty cool.

Sanderson is Mormon. I haven't heard anything bad about him.
