Bleach - Anime/Manga

I have a soft spot for pointless character details so I really loved the character profiles at the end of the first ten or so volumes. Of course when you make new characters when you run out of ideas that becomes obsolete.

I only started getting into Bleach a few years ago ( 2018 ) and during this point I kinda had my fill of shonen. But Bleach somehow manages to keep me interested and scratch's this itch I can't explain. Granted I had see a bunch of other shit before this so I was aware of most of the tropes that plague anime, but bleach manages to make them not as bad. From the soundtrack to the character designs it's a pretty fun ride. 2/3 'rds of the way through it so maybe I'll be caught up for when it comes back. I just hope David Lodge comes back to voice Kenpachi. I can totally see this would've been my favorite anime as a kid if I had seen it when it first came out.

Squad 11 best squad.

The Sternritter were just a cheap imitation of the Espada and I cant remember any of their names + powers to save my life. The only positive of the Fullbring arc was the current of psychological drama that came with Tsukishima’s powers, otherwise it felt like filler on par with some from the anime.

I remember getting into the series proper when I started reading it in Jump. The issues on hand started right at the start of the Espada arc, and was at the first wave of Karakura Town fights when the print magazine went defunct.
Later I read everything up to that point, and was glad I did. It was fantastic all around. Someday I'd like to read the whole thing just to say I did.
Oh, and it's interesting to see the final arc anime finally get announced.

Thousand Year Blood War announced for October 2022.

KUBO SAMA... I KNEEL!

Bleach's writing is ass but it never stopped looking cool (just got a bit lazier looking with the years). Quincy Blood War has so many cool shit in it, Ichigo being absent through almost 70% of the damn thing gave a lot of time for the side characters to shine and it was great.

Hopefully they'll be able to expand on stuff that got cut due to the rushed ending, Yhwach didnt deserve to go out like that.

Anyway I hope the trailer animation is true to what’s going to be featured. And I hate to admit it but I missed that cheesey number one theme.
It's a good theme. Bleach always could do some very aesthetically pleasing stuff when it felt like it, heck a lot of its anime endings showed that off too.

Really the problems with Bleach are covered very well with that trailer and who it puts up first and how irrelevant they are. Ichigo, Orihime, Chad and Ishida. The MC, a girl who got an interesting power setup that barely appeared past the first episode it showed up in bar the healing abilities, a really interesting character who mostly gets rag dolled to show off other characters and the only one of the four to really do much plot stuff this final arc and even that is negligible.

I'll always have a soft spot for Bleach and seeing it get finished rather than getting the Hitman Reborn treatment and never seeing its final arcs animated it is nice. But it very much was a style over substance series and that has not changed.

I'm amazed how Bleach has held up the test of time
The fans kept the love of the series up with all The Heart.
For me, Bleach is the quintessential "It does not work for you unless you pay attention" show. All the foreshadowing in the world will not help you if you do have no attention span. I recently watched videos where a guy explained the most common complains about the series' plot (the so-called "asspulls", not the other kind of plot) and you would be surprised how much was either foreshadowed or easily explainable if you think about it for like a second or two. At worst, things were explained later.

Bleach is all style over substance, but it at least gets that right. It has great art, music, and some cool fights. I couldn't tell you what the fuck anybody's goals were beyond the Soul Society arc.

Considering the thread is now necro'd. I'd like to inform everyone that the TYBW 2nd & 3rd cour OST is out now. Including (not officially) on YouTube too.

The Thousand Year Blood War arc is mainly the thing that led to the asspull issue, it was really rushed & it shows. Kubo almost started hating his series by the end due to how his editors were handling him. I guess all The Heart went into the manga, to the point there wasn't any left in Kubo by the end of the series. The anime is showing some signs of goodness tho, like some extra anime inclusions, even if they removed some gags sadly like Rukia's peach tho.
