The right is reaping what it sows. The guy was always a technocrat and it doesn't take long to research it, hell, he's not exactly hiding it either. But he's got good PR skills, and these magatards and dissidents chose to believe this fake image of him because they desperately want THEIR GUY. Now they are stuck with him.
No? Musk is not an elected official, his position in the government is one of an appointee, the guy everyone voted for was Donald Trump. If Trump so chose, he could do away with the DOGE department altogether before it even gets started.

I mean, even if Trump was serious about DOGE he'd need an Act of Congress to actually create it.

If you're not demoralized by the state of the world and how things have always been, you're squeamish about feeling bad.
I am cynical by default, but I'm feeling pretty white pilled that a bunch of tech grifters, Republicans and Gavin Newsom all decided to go mask off in front of everyone during the final days of the year when most people actually have time to witness it.

Except they aren't witnessing it like they. They're Normies and they're Knuckling Under. There Are No White Pills. None. You're only doing that because you're squeamish about feeling bad. There Are No White Pills. None.

Trump cucked out, he wants infinity Jeets for Musk and Theil. Nothing good has ever happened.

I forgot about that, so the chances of him getting his DOGE department were slim anyway, so Elon has no real influence in politics besides his platform.

So then why is everyone talking about Elon's behavior like it's a consequence of Trump's election, or that it means anything to the second Trump admin at all?

Because Trump is well documented for listening to the mighty dollar from his donors, and there was also the fact he sided with Musk on the whole situation.

Because Elon is in Trump's ear and has the resources to primary any Republican that goes against him. Soros style. And he's already threatened to do this.

Because there is a large body of people (many of them well-ingrained in American politics, Democrat and Republican) who want to subvert Donald Trump however possible. Musk having a public meltdown and bleeding support from Trump's administration by being the world's ugliest cheerleader is something many Democrats are very thankful for and they're praying it continues for as long as possible. They also don't have to elevate that particular signal at all, since Musk owns the largest social media platform and puts the megaphone up to his own face whenever he has the urge to say something stupid. Trump being a hopeless civnat who sees nothing wrong with opening the floodgates from India doesn't help.

Those indoctrinated into cult mentality will never admit too being in a cult. Even in a cult of personality.
Trump has unironic cult of personality members but when people say "MAGA cult" they typically mean everyone who voted for Trump rather than the weirdos. Which is why people have the reaction the guy you're responding to did.

Which is fucking insane because those people aren't running into their arms, they're running out of hope that the system even functions for them. That's not something any sane human being would cheer for knowing what comes of it from history's examples.

Musk spent a quarter of a billion dollars to back Trump and other Republican candidates in the 2024 election. It's fair to say you don't just give anyone such a large amount of money and expect nothing out of it. Even if his influence is diminished, in all likelihood due to financial backing alone a lot of the things he says has to be, at the very least, entertained by GOP politicians. He isn't someone that can just be pushed aside entirely.

Musk was a big influence on getting Trump elected although after 4 years of Biden-Harris disaster, Trump was probably going to win regardless.

From what I can tell, Trump never actually stated his opinion on the ordeal. The New York Post people have been spouting doesn't give a source of the quote.

If that's the case, Musk isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I'm sorry, I am long beyond the point of expecting anything good from any politician, but I understand how you feel. Big Tech is the collective enemy of humanity, in my opinion. Until these mega billionaires get cut down to size, we are doomed. This build-up of extreme wealth among the CEO/corporate class has accelerated since the 1980s, as well as the eradication of US jobs for third world labor--particularly since the election of Ronald Reagan.

Are tech companies still doing the newspaper job wanted trick?

The one where they post an ad for a javascript programmer in some small circulation bay area newspaper, sometimes literal retiree newspapers. And its written in telegram shorthand so its unreadable to anyone born post-1920, then when they get no responses they can claim to have done due diligence in trying to find an American for the position.
Sometimes they do this, although these days they just phone screen you now and give you a leetcode gauntlet because the Indians have all drilled on leetcode. I had an interview where it was literally three leetcode hards in 30 min and realized very quickly the guy was just farming my response so he could hire an Indian.

Chinese and Indians all have sites where they literally compile all the most common interview questions and memorize them. And if you're slightly more affluent, you can have another guy take your technical screen for you or (if they're checking to make sure the interviewee is the actual applicant) they can feed you answers through an earphone.

The smarter companies who want actual workers have all moved away from leetcode because of this but SV still really wants ass-kissing Indians who can vomit up answers to random computer science puzzles.
