Mar-A-Lago was built to be a winter white house, wasn't it?
MAL predates his presidency by a long shot though?
Let's say you're a parent, and after some very intense arguments your child - 50+ years of age - tells you "no politics". I'm curious how KF'ers would interpret this setting of boundaries. Would you decide that this only applied to your own opinions, and that forwarding political content written by others would not be a violation of this boundary? Or would you view that as a very lawyerly interpretation that pretends to obey the letter while violating the spirit and thus both beneath you and an absolute passive-aggressive bitch move?
If you're old enough that you have offspring over a half-century old I just want to congratulate you on making it here and to gently remind you that it's okay to call family members racial slurs when they act a fool.

Stop right there. I'm not going to have those arguments with a grown adult, especially as a parent.
My mother always says "no politics," but she doesn't discuss politics and follows her own rules. During the recent holidays, my father tried to bait me a few times but it doesn't really work when Trump won both the popular and electoral vote.

It's not surprising. He called him a great friend but who made a very stupid mistake. My guess is that Mike spent all Christmas week blowing Trump to get on his good graces again.

In reality Johnson is the only viable speaker who doesn't take potentially weeks of bullshit drama and backroom deals so there is no reason not to just have him take the place even if he is trash because likely any replacement would be equally trash. If Trump wants to get off the ground running there is no other alternative.

FC needs to take a politics 101 class and learn you should take victories and not only accept the ideal ones.

The guideline in my household was always don't talk about politics in mixed company. Basically, keep it to one-on-one conversations or small groups where everyone is interested in talking about it. Not over the dinner table generally and especially not holiday dinners.

What I've found is that not only does this let me dodge political conversations with the blue hairs of the family pretty easily (as I'm often not one-on-one with them anyway) people are often much more candid and open when it's just you and them. Especially given the understanding is that what happens in those conversations isn't to be repeated to others.

For example: one of my family members brought up in a one-on-one conversation that they had heard about the term AGP and wanted to know what I thought of it. They had heard about it on a podcast and knew better than to ask one of the other family members. People feeling comfortable saying what they actually think has led to some pretty amusing conversations.

My father attempted to make some "hurr durr Trump voter" comment at the dinner table, so I started being more retarded than usual by calling him a communist for anything and everything. He took the bait, everyone laughed at his expense, and that was the end of it.

I know a 60-year-old that would go on these long winded tangents on Trump without doing any research on the topic at head. It's foolish of me to TRY to rebuttal or dispute, so I would just nod and move on. It's one thing to have a bias, it's another thing entirely to not LOOK INTO your own ramblings.

Old people, I swear to God...

Trump's National Security Advisor just told NATO that the agreement they have isn't worth the paper it is written on, telling Denmark if it alone can not defend Greenland, then the USA won't. In other words, NATO does not actually exist when the USA decides it doesn't need to honor the treaty, and uses threats to force a country to sell land to it.

Trump is a dream come true for Russia and China. It is a true circus coming to town January 2025.

Actually the circus is leaving. The circus is the guy who was demented and diminished from day one who needed his staffers to protect him from upsetting polls and needed reporters to ask him about chocolate chocolate chip ice cream. This culminated in “we finally beat Medicare” and tbe twerking celeb campaign of cackles. You know, the bitch was somehow more retarded than Biden was?

I know you trump haters want to pretend the last four years of dementia humiliation and depraved troon freaks in the highest levels of power didn’t happen so you can continue your boomer histrionics about trump but sadly they did happen and anything you cry about in regards to trump is largely negated by the last four years where the politiboro was literally endgame Soviet decline tie

Putin and xi were laughing at america for voting for Biden and his army of trans folx like admiral rachel Levine (who helped butcher 14k kids in the last 4 years). But I guess mass sterilization of your children will own putin or something.

It was built by a cereal heiress named Marjorie Merriweather Post in the 1920s. She donated it to the US government in 1973, to be used as a winter presidential residence, but the USG returned it to her estate in the 80s before it was ever used for that purpose, because it cost too much to maintain. Donald bought it soon after, mostly for the huge size of the land, then turned it into a social club. He has called it his winter whitehouse as well, almost certainly because of the history of the place.

If you can't protect your country and you can't provide enough value for another party to protect you, then what's the point of a treaty?
