It still blows my mind that the Nazis burning down a gay, Jewish socialist's (in a polygamous, interracial gay relationship) life's work is classified as an attack on the trans community. If the Nazis hated "groundbreaking research on transgender and LGBTQ+ identities" then why did all but one of the surgeons involved in the first sex change operations (conducted at the Institute, of course) join the Nazis? Why did a Nazi party member win the 1939 Nobel Prize in chemistry "for his work on sex hormones"? Why were the Nazis experimenting with hormone therapy (arguably inventing hormone therapy as we know it, though the urine of pregnant women and mares had been experimented before) on prisoners at their death camps? Including injecting male hormones into gay men, an idea that they may well have gotten from Dr Hirschfeld himself (though the Nazis had not yet invented hormone therapy, so Magnus Hirschfeld had to rely on directly grafting/implanting heterosexual testicles into gay men).

It's pretty obvious that the Nazis didn't really mind groundbreaking research into sexuality. They might not have been fond of trannies, but they clearly saw the potential value of being able to manipulate people's sexuality, hence why they appropriated the knowledge for themselves. And then continued to use it in their own twisted research. But you would struggle mightily to create a better target for the Nazis than Magnus Hirschfeld, a Jew and a gay man and a socialist and a bigamist and a slut for wontons and an outspoken critic of the Nazis who traveled across the globe decrying white supremacy and colonialism. You don't need to look any deeper for reasons why they burnt his library down, it could have been an institute on the study of moths and the Nazis would have targeted it.

Other parts of Europe seem to be recoiling to some extent to the woke shit, especially troon shit, but they seem to be digging their heels in.
