Squid Game - battle Royale but adults!

Just finished it, didn’t like the tranny. We kind of figured out that they didn’t have enough episodes to wrap it up halfway through. My favourite character was the fortune teller, loved her gookey side eyes.

Just finished the second season, and it was enjoyable. Found the cliffhanger to be pretty annoying, like I know they filmed seasons 2 and 3 back to back, with the third season being the final one (at least that's good)

Only other grievance is how the cop subplot went, it felt a bit meandering.

Other than that, I liked a lot of the new cast members, and liked they gave depth to a few of the season 1 characters like Gi-hun, Front Man, and the Recruiter.

Best episodes are the first three and sixth one.

The last episode felt like there was another episode waiting to happen right after, hopefully the wait for the third season isn't as long.
I liked the second season too but I honestly think it's flawed though. There were signs of seasonal rot leaking in.

Like I feel a lot of the second season hinges on the third season working well, but if there's seasonal rot, I think I can understand it given how its all done by the same creator who likely has been overwhelmed with how the first season blew up.

The tranny pissed me off. He literally goes “uwu I’m gonna chop my cock off and be a pretty girl living in Thailand” and yet none of the characters shame him for selfishly wanting to kill other people so he can get fucking cosmetic surgery. Istg, every time they try to present a Troon as likable it fucking fails because troons, by their nature, are just pieces of shit.

Thanos was unironically pure kino. I started off hating him but by the end I loved him and was actually sad when he died because it meant we wouldn't be getting more of him.
I read that the kid playing him is some kind of Kpop dude whose career got torpedoed for taking drugs. This is like his comeback or something? I thought he was bloody good. Excellent screen presence. Hopefully he will get some more acting work now. The lad playing the tranny is putting in good work as well.

I realize this is what everyone has already said, but it is hilarious that one of the contestants is a tranny trying to get money to cut off their dick.
The Thailand thing reminded me of the ending of of mice and men.

Turn around and look over there. You’re going to get the money, get your dick snipped off and go to Thailand. You’re going to buy a little house and live your life with all the totality passable trannies. *bang*

Favorite scene with the troon is when he goes in the bathroom with the old lady and sick pregnant chick. When the old lady reveals that info, it's the equivalent of a slap in the face for him. He becomes self-conscious looking in the mirror, knowing that in spite of all the surgeries he has or plans to get, he will never be able to conceive. I was expecting the inclusion of a trans character to be much worse, but I ultimately didn't mind and enjoyed it. The way he was written has to be an intentional middle finger to Netflix.

While this season doesn't hit the highs of the first (doing setup for S3), I feel sympathetic for the creator, with all the pressure he was facing to try and catch lightning in a bottle again.

I do have complaints regarding the minor characters not being well developed like the fisherman, the guard chick & dad, the couple, and especially that one marine in the last episode. Genuinely confused on what happened there, logically he probably was a plant but it looked like he went into a trance more than anything. I'll have to give it another rewatch.

As for the highlights of the season, Episode 3 was wonderful.

Honestly, not more selfish than the fraudsters and gamblers that are like 2/3rds of the players. Sure, he is not participating to save his sick child, but in that very scene he is talking to a gambling manchild whos mother entered the games to save his ass, hardly someone to talk.

Thanos reminds me of the gangster from the first season, entertaining dickheads in the game that are causing the most problems.

I hope season 3 continues the trend since these characters are highlights of the first two seasons, just so Squid Game can end with at least a trio of funny dickhead villains under its belt.

Favorite character of the season though is definitely In-ho

I’m just shocked that they don’t really present him as a shitty person, when most of the players in squid game are generally shitty people.

Finished all the episodes now. Every single subplot didn't get a conclusion it would seem. I could forgive a lot of the retarded stuff in the show because it's entertaining, but leaving us hanging on literally everything makes me give this season a thumbs down. Season one ended on a downer with the entire cast being dead, but there were no loose ends. Ending right on us watching everyone get executed just sucks.

Just finished the second season and while a lot of novelty has worn off, I found myself enjoying it more than I anticipated, despite already liking the first one, save for the end.
Couple thoughts:
-I'm sad the recruiter died so early in because I would've love to see more from him but all of his scenes were great as is; the season started very strong.
-"Thanos" was a character I think I heard from pre-release and was ready to hate him but found myself liking for just how stupid and shitty he is, it works for what he's supposed to be. A fucking Marvel watching crypto rapping korean wigger.
I was hoping for a scene where it dawn on him that his life was on the line and the realization kicking in but him being the first contestant to die outside of any of the actual games (and to the scammer he fell for no less) was also good.
-I'm really liking In-Ho (the Frontman) and was curious when he'd make a move. I just wonder what his plan was in case something went wrong like what if he got pushed during red light green light or what if he had a bad team for the round with the 5 member minigames lol.
-Troonella wasn't that bad. I'm sure under a western production this exact character would've been a billion times worse. When shit got tough at the end he simply manned up and helped which I can respect but at that point I also genuinely stopped registering him as a troon almost entirely but rather a guy who happens to have long hair
-I feel so bad for the mom of the gambler, I was constantly worried another contestant would suddenly overpower or directly kill her at some point. The son is an idiot though.
-Only characters I found myself disliking are the coward who got picked on by Thanos and his lackey and kinda the schizo schaman lady who hopefully gets to do something grander down the line
-I didn't like the boat search subplot so far but will hold off until we get the full payoff
-Speaking of, there are plenty subplots which have been mentioned already which are held at the cliffhanger but right now I'd rather have that than the season finale shitting the bed like they did with 001.

Not really. He's TOP from Big Bang which was the biggest boy band from the second wave of kpop. He got done for weed and has anxiety.
But his biggest issues was that he just couldn't handle the fame and doesn't have a personality that gels with the rest of the remaining band members, nor the musical talent. (Big Bang doesn't really exist anymore, and are on different labels)
Similar aspects to his career is he was a rapper, always had colored hair and a bit over the top.
TOP has done other acting gigs over the years including Tazza 2, which isn't a bad movie. For relevance his first gig was a TV drama called Iris which while a bit of a slow burn was a great spy drama featuring Lee Byunghun (black masked guy or 001 in s2. Irl he loves to give golden showers)

G dragon is also from Big Bang and has just made his own comeback after more serious drug allegations, but he was always the most talented of the group (a child star and MJ levels of stardom).

The guy playing the tranny is like 40 years old now. He has a main role in The Glory (on netflix) which is a top tier level revenge bully drama and he absolutely nails it as a psychotic madman. Seriously, people should be watching that over this dredge.

In saying that as well the guy that plays the recruiter has a show that just came out on Netflix called The Trunk and that is also pretty fucking great. (His most famous appearance is Train to Busan)

Squid game 2 is is almost a who's who of korean actors but they are all wasted in this.

I know too much about this shit from second knowledge I cannot avoid more than anything else.

I'm really happy with the casting choice for the trans player since 1.) The actor's fairly talented and manages to keep the character grounded despite the writers clearly trying to put him in the limelight, and 2.) I can continue referring to Hyun-ju as a man because the actor is in fact a man.

Oh man, I didn't hear about that role. That makes the casting choice even more golden.

hile the troon is one of the protagonists, he isn't a mary sue
Solves the 5 legged game all by himself, is special forces gun expert, doesn't betray anyone, isn't greedy, doesn't get anyone killed on purpose, isn't an asshole (big ask for the cast).

He's about as close to mary sue as you can get, infinitely virtuous and supremely competent. People said ali was too perfect, but at least he was a bit naive, the troon has nothing.
