Jason is back in Canada and is getting very angry at minor things.

He completely misunderstood a billboard and got outraged over it:

The message is that since energy is used in everything, high energy costs mean high prices for everything.

He also got mad over a warning that a handicap accessible bus stop may not be available after a snowstorm:

Maybe they close the stop because there’s a snowbank there and the bus can’t open its ramp?
He is at 125 Southwood Dr, Toronto, ON M4E 0B8, Canada.

The area where the photo is taken cannot have is sidewalks ploughed.

More and more I'm wondering how smart of a guy Jason actually is. As private as he tries to keep his life, he seems to had some career in technology and was able to semi-retire at a relatively young age to the Netherlands where he can make videos about how wonderful Amsterdam is, but he seems to be the type of person who doesn't understand that the O&G industry is more than just cars; it affects food cost and heating, something everyone needs and benefits from. Then again, the average tech bro is far less intelligent than his salary and job indicates, so this isn't too shocking.

As for complaining about winter weather issues, they'll always shut down in times urbanists will claim they need it most (inclement weather, holidays, the dead of night). Despite these being perfectly understandable reasons (it's a metro, not Waffle House) urbanists will blame cars, somehow...

Usually sidewalks can’t be plowed when the density is too high. If you’re in a suburban area, there’s almost always a space between the street and the sidewalk where the snow can go; in an urban center they can’t plow the snow they have to pick it up and truck it elsewhere.

Urban cities and snow don’t mix well. It gets so bad that some have entire warrens of tunnels and bridges to connect buildings because walking outside is insanity.

I don't even think he was really a tech bro.
He's not even a techbro, though; he works in marketing

But for sure I can say that working in a technology related field doesn't mean someone has critical thinking skills. Personally I think he is willfully ignorant in the way that he ignores anything not convenient for his world view.

On a tangent, but I feel like the Green energy movement shills/community almost wants its own thread, considering how much of a keystone it is in the current globohomo order while being scammy and carbon-intensive in reality.
It's a complicated form of wealth relocation. Basically it's a way for them to take money away from people they don't like (through various "carbon taxes" and penalties) and redistributing them to their friends (the people who own worthless eco startups that don't make viable products). What I'm saying is it's a racket.

My mistake was thinking he had some smarts. Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm underemployed and people with better jobs also seem to be borderline retarded.

Turns out the secret all along was wanting to live in a high trust society. Magic elevation indeed.
I've heard stories that in cities with elevation changes there is less crime in the hills. Harder to push their shopping carts up hill, less avenues for escape, other factors.

No official studies I know of though.

Reminds me of a joke Prince made once that went something like "I like the cold weather, it keeps the bad people away". I believe there's some merit to that similar to what you mentioned. I'd imagine that generally places that face more adversity ward away people who are looking for an easy life. Probably there are exceptions to the rule, but that quote just came to mind.

The resort is about two hours from Denver but given the resort has lodging, I think it's main clientele are people on vacation going to the resort for the specific purpose of a ski / snowboard activities.

Now I ask, do you think people fly to Denver, drove two hours to the resort, check in with no gear, then stalk a couple of guests, steal their gear, spend time on their gear on the mountain, then carry their gear back to their rooms?

I sure thefts happen but I doubt a ton of snow gear is stolen given the impracticality of use.

I show one small grocery store in the area with the next closest proper store about a 15 mini drive away in the town of Frisco.

The resort doesn't have a pharmacy.

This doesn't even address where the staff live.

Hey, here is a walkable medium sized town:

I wonder how many Fuck Cars people would like to live as an enlisted crewman for the rest of their life?

Hey look, a third space!

As a bit of an aside, do not let the Fuck Cars crowd learn about submarines and the conditions aboard them. With their obsession over efficiency, they'd cream their pants at the idea of building some towers with submarine-esque conditions and shoving as many people inside as they can.

The "efficiency" obsession is always a cope. You could point out slave ships and how cramming people in is not the best way to operate anything, but do you think they work efficiently in their day-to-day lives, how to do their jobs better and quicker, research system operations for funsies? Heck no!

If they gave one real shit about real efficiency and still liked the idea of trains they'd advocate for the MTA to be more like the Japanese trains and shut down from midnight from 6am.

Please. They wouldn't be able to move through the compartment properly, much less start the diesel generators required for power before breaking down from the noise and smoke.
Or just stuff them with a bunch of jeets for 45 days in a SSK without showers/baths.

I think it's as simple as people don't go looking for trouble when it's freezing out. It reminds me of Jim's #JusticeforJamar streams where protesters are running amuck for weeks but the second it starts to snow they call it quits.

If they actually gave a shit then they would advocate for the MTA to cut its wasteful administrative spending. But they don't even acknowledge that it's happening and that it's the reason behind NYC's subways being complete and utter shit despite the billions being poured in. In fact they want to increase the funding by implementing congestion pricing.
