It's stuff like these that shows that the animation community really doesn't know their audience. Not everyone views media as a piece of high literature or art. Some people prefer watching movies as long as it's interesting and doesn't have anything pretentious shoved in their faces. The point of a movie, show, game, etc. is to entertain. If you want to send a message, do it right and do it efficiently. If the game's more of the developers shoving their political stances on strangers than the fact it's a game to enjoy, then the game's bound to become obsolete if all that's known of it is that "it's the game with the political yapping", and the only people who'll even mildly remember it are the people who are equal in the same stances as them.
This is why Illumination is so successful. Their movies wildly appeal to the broad audience, and while that can suck and lead to being as corporate and basic as possible (no one's gonna remember despicable me 4 lol), but for an entertainment industry, it's kind of a must if they want the profits to keep rolling. That's basic capitalism, everyone. Money is money and if more money is available, who wouldn't take the chances?
Because in the end, who knew appealing to a majority is financially better than to a minority? I mean, who would've thunk it?
