I feel like there's a difference between the commies you hate and actual communist countries. Unlike western commies, North Koreans aren't exactly preaching to us about the joys of importing third worlders.

The Indian far-right has been actively promoting its talking points among jeets abroad for like a decade at this point. North Korea's birth rate is only 1.79 births per woman. While this is better than SK, it's still well below replacement especially when you factor in their much lower life expectancy.

NK was also going through a famine during the 90s and early 2000s, mainly because the SU imploding meant that they basically had no one to buy their food from. After things in Russia stabilized the situation went back to normal, and they also have Rason on the border with Russia, which is basically a capitalist city (for NK standards)

That was from soldiers returning home along with a burgeoning economy (as most foreign competitors to the US had been practically destroyed). Otherwise, in most countries, as the GDP per capita increases, birth rates tend to fall. Birth rates fall even further if women are educated and their status in society improves.

As much as I hate commies, you're right. Communist countries like the Soviet Union didn't have such vast disparity between them and the West. North Korea has few natural resources but a large base of industry. The Eastern Bloc could circlejerk their way through the decades, even progressing technologically.

North Korea's only trading partners are China and Russia, and neither will give them proper goods. The DPRK was perhaps the worst geographic region to be politically isolated.

A friend of mine took a holiday to North Korea and said they're nice people they actually really do like him though they view him more as a monarch rather than a communist leader it's basically how people view the queen.
Also North Korea is the only part of East Asia with a somewhat functioning birth rate it's almost that replacement level so the North Koreans literally have to do nothing and just wait for South Korea to eventually die out.

Rope/bullet/cattle knocker/whatever within a few weeks of sentencing (as it used to be well into 20th century). Or maybe use them for medical experiments/surgery practice or something. Pest control is pest control, no need to get fancy.
