How is Cartoon Network still alive? No one under 50 watches cable TV anymore.

For me, it isn't so much as "Oh, Cable TV is dead, no one watches it anymore" as much as all the major players completely gave up on it in the mid 2010s just as the streaming wars were about to kick off.

Most of what's on TV nowadays (and what was on TV back then as well) is either news channels, which aren't very useful when social media can give you information on any current event as it happens, reality TV, which being honest is just slightly higher quality than the average Youtube video, or reruns of old movies/TV shows, which you can pirate or watch on stream easily. TV got big because of two things, sports and and new TV shows. When the former's viewership has largely stagnated (and that's without taking into account the likes of NASCAR, who has a declining viewership) and the latter has almost entirely migrated to streaming, it's no wonder that TV is on free fall.

You can't live without the internet due to the myriad of actual important things that
become vastly easier with it, which means that getting your entartainment from social media and Youtube costs you essentially, but you can cut TV out of your expenses without sacrificing all that much

I haven't seen any posts about this here, but leaks for the next Avatar: The Last Airbender series dropped about a month ago. And it's...something. Korra nuked the entire world and there are no longer four nations, but Seven Haven cities with everything else being a post-apocalyptic wasteland. There are two versions of the amputee Avatar (Pavi) and the "guy" who is an airbending master. I guarantee that guy will be a genderspecial, since the creators have retconned the Air Temples not being sex-segregated but based on vibes for the retconned inclusion of non-binaries. There is something about the face and the hairstyle in the version where the two characters in the wasteland.

I guarantee it will be awful, the creators bought into DIE bullshit and decided that voice actors' race must match their characters, meaning the VAs for prior characters can no longer voice their characters. Other gender and sexuality fuckery has been approved by them for the tabletop game and novels. Unlike most Western cartoon creators, they don't generate drama or get into Twitter fights, mostly sticking to self-promotion and professional posts. Anything about what they believe is taken from interviews and from what they're allowing in extended universe material since they approve it all before publication.

They did, however, recast the black people.

That's also why I said "Apparently". I don't, nor does anyone I know irl, watch the show anymore. I don't think anyone I know has in years. His last appearance was in 2017 and I only just recently learned about him not being in anything since.

The whole women inserting weird fetishes feels like some gross exhibitionism by lesbians and those weird Asian/ white girls who had overbearing parents, but were allowed to do theatre/ band and became the most obvious example of a theatre kid.

They’re the type of woman who would unironically do anything as long as they got emotional recognition or praise. A very pathetic type of person, but also one who’d backstab lifelong friends as long as it gets them closer to the person they admire/ love/ feel tingles for.

Guess what, it was also a perfect excuse to shove in a Sigur Rós cameo, back when they were kinda-sorta popular in the mainstream.

Similarly, I don't see why would they need to change Dr. Hibbert's voice other than "to be voiced by a black guy for more accuracy." His whole schtick is to be an average MD of varying degrees of competence and with a penchant for trolling his patients.

Oh yes, Apu's "disappearance" due to some pajeet complaining about the character being supposedly racist was the subject of much discussion, and perhaps the most exposure in the public eye the Simpsons had in ages. I seriously don't see how Apu could be racist - Stereotypical, maybe, but quickly undone by Apu being well-fleshed out. Sadly, the pajeet won, Apu was relegated to the background, and even Hank Azaria agreed to never voice him again due to those astroturfed concerns.

They actually did an episode all about Apu at some point that tried to update his character, kinda? He had a hip young, completely non-stereotypical relative come stay with him and it was very forced and dry.
Simpsons should have ended after the movie, but like Spongebob, it just won't die.

Honestly not sure how popular of an opinion this is but I feel like the whole typecast situation only causes more problems then solutions and limits voice actors chances are getting roles. What really doesn’t help that people are super weird about it too.

I feel like the only time i can understand wanting a voice actor for something specific is like some accent or something
