It's really hard to keep track of every thread you are participating in. The reaction stickers are good for that. If you are getting none then your presence was fleeting and there is no need to return. If you are getting a bunch, then it's worth going back.

Also as others have said it's invaluable for going back to dead threads that for whatever reason have risen from the grave.

What Null did was like a game developer hard-coding rainbow flags into the game because someone made a mod to remove them.

Considering New Zealand has a Chief Censor, the answer to that question is "yes".

That was part of it, but he also didn't like the way people would use it to go back to their old posts as bookmarks because he doesn't feel that contributes to discussion or is a positive way to browse and use the site.

Well, that's dumb because as I and others have stated stickers are basically a way of measuring engagement. Its an easy way for a person to tell if they've made a proper shitpost or just a lowly shit post.

I did that too. Internet Pagans, for example, only lights up occasionally, and when it does you can see someone moving through the old pages.
