I do think Elon is smart, even if not necessarily genius level. The issue with that is that Elon's success is him being a parasite to his parents so he won the lottery. Elon himself has no distinct skills of his own since whenever he talks about anything, he comes across as an idiot to whoever knows the subject he's talking about. Almost every achievement Elon ever did is backed off either being lucky through certain events or good connections. But most of the time, he just throws money at people smarter than him, or those who make him look smart such as his entire PR team.

Elon is a nepobaby who got far due to other people's money and using that money to pay for people smarter than him to help him out.

If Elon was a middle class or poor kid who didn't have such resources from birth, he'd be a laughing stock with a 500-1000 page thread.

Motive? Not entirely sure but I'm assuming Elon let this kid make some sort of an AI based off of him and then did actual interviews or some shit as him (or the joke/experiment just went too far) so he is saying it is him to divert anger/attention away from it.

The motivation really depends on what actually happened and there's still no 100% clear answer on that just yet.

To me, it wasn't even surprising. Elon did a Chinese dicksucking tour some time ago, calling the Chinese "hard working, punctual and loyal to the business".
While doing so, he gained lots of positive clout in China. To me, as someone who's worked all over the place, the undertone was crystal clear.
Hard working: The Chinese will work from 9am to 9pm or later without extra pay.
Punctual: The Chinese will not miss a meeting in fear of being fired, because the supposedly communist country has lacklustre labour protection laws and outright bans labour unions.
Loyal to the business: The Chinese will not engage in petty office politics to get a raise or promotions, they are subservient and obedient to the managers.

Does that sound like compliments now? I don't think so. On China's side of the (lower case) internet, many voiced something similar but they were yelled down by his cocksuckers. This H1B shit should be a wakeup call for a bunch.
