Some of you people crack me up, you really do. One the one hand you've got, let's call them Category A, who go:
"If I just find the right words and make the right argument, I'll be able to persuade the famously stubborn and belligerent fat autist who runs the site to respectfully back down and capitulate to my point of view! There is of course, extensive precedent for that ever happening before!"
Then you have the equally amusing Category B, who go:
"Gluck gluck gluck, I wove you ever so much Josh Moon! You're perfect and amazing! Don't listen to those mean people who want stickers, they're brainrotted retard niggers, but not me! It's really important to me for you to know that I'm a mindless sycophant willing to suck suck suck all day long! Dignity? What's that?"

To compliment this thread, here's musical accompaniment from one of the operas of old. A premium selection from the classic "Fatstaff", originally composed by Giusticker Verdi.

Whoever edited that image is very talented and also probably incredibly handsome. This is very funny, great post bro. Thanks for making me aware of this thread.

I am not sure about this (I dont use these social media sites)

For me the appeal of stickers is simple: I like it when people that I like, agrees or approves of sometimes that I wrote. And conversely, if posters that I like writes something, I want to cheer them on. It creates a sense of community.

If the reactions were anonymous (like preddit) I would find them completely pointless.
You can still see how your post was received by clicking on your post and opening the reactions if you really want to and I think it's way better to have to actively seek out a post you were really proud of to see how it was received than to be constantly refreshing a list of all the reactions and getting addicted to stickie dopamine or raging over negrates like so many people do.

i'm category c, lurker

Good to know watched threads works for you, but as people have already pointed out SEVERAL times for normal users it tends to break pretty often, and isn't always pinging threads people want to check in.
I love, love, love how the complaint about featured threads is:
1. it alerts too often
2. it does not alert enough

so the solution is
3. completely fucking random dings about POST LIKES.

The solution wasn't dings about post likes. I have stated time and time again that I am not looking for notification dings for post likes. I'm sorry I hoped you'd read instead of trying to spin it into a gotcha framing me as wanting dings for post likes. Watched doesn't alert consistently enough is not equal to asking for react notif dings.

But that's what it is. It is asking for notifications for post likes. That is literally what you're upset about.

It feels like forever since reaction scores got removed and the zoomers only got more feral since.
Reports over negrates apparently still happen, people fall for trolls/sarcasm more often, and the amount of unmasking that's happened either through impersonation or legitimately dumb newbies makes me think the general IQ has shifted towards the genuinely retarded end of the spectrum.

Am I the only one who thinks notifications for every like/reaction you get would just be annoying?
It used to be like that and there was a similarly massive shitstorm after they were disabled.

I liked having rating pings because I rarely stick to few threads and I tended to post a little bit in a lot of places. By how much engagement I receive, I can see if people are genuinely interested in what I have to say, and what they think of it. Yes, we still have reply notifs but as long as reactions exist they will always be a replacement for most one or two-word replies.

Ideally it would be up to the user to turn it on and off as desired but clearly this looks like a crude attempt at social engineering and apparently we're too stupid to decide for ourselves.

If this is too opinionated and entitled for you, please get your head checked.

I mentioned it in the other thread but my ideal alert solution is being able to set a time interval for your watched threads that would alert you every set time interval for how many posts were made in that time. This would let you know if there's a sudden spike in activity, it wouldnt just alert once like current watched thread alerts do, and it wouldn't alert you at all if there was no activity. And it would be customizable so if you only want to be alerted once a day for some slow threads but once every 3 hours for some others, you could.
Not sure if it's feasible to implement in xenforo though, but that's what would solve my navigation issues.

You either misread, are ignoring and making shit up, or lying actively. The segment you quoted was entirely about watched threads being broken and needing to be fixed. The rest of my post was covering how I view there being more options to check in on threads as good in general, and felt your recent behavior was tied to your stress from actual retard behavior and ping spam, and going by a post I read between then and now it seems that's the case. Please do not fall to this. I'm not looking for pings for ratings. I'm looking for the watched threads tab to stop breaking and people to stop being retarded about this sticker shit.

It was an option but Nool suggests the problems peaked with 1.) reports over stickerbombing where users went through your posts to negrate, 2.) post quality suffering to align with popular views/whatever would get you more stickers.

cute way to twist my words but it's more about having to actually take time out to deal with it + long standing community issues from spergs fighting over ratings. and yes it's a thing.
I wasn't joking when I said that the objectively correct solution is to do away with post stickers entirely. The obvious issue is that this would break the highlights feature, which, if you're looking for a solution for Sneedforo which kills stickers but preserves highlights, I personally think it would work to have a like button or thumbs up or whatever the fuck, and just not show the ratings on the post, just have it used exclusively for the backend highlight algorithm.

As for navigating the site using sticker notifications, yeah man, it's comically retarded, and I cannot fathom how people do that. Unfortunately for them, they're simply going to have to adjust to using the forum correctly, because their position is untenable in the long term.

As for the backlash you're getting, I personally think most of it comes from the lack of communication or the perceived hostility. Flies and honey and all that. Now, this is the part where you tell me that if I care about the way a message is delivered and not purely the content, I'm a retarded niggerfaggot and should kill myself, however let me plead my case. Most people care about the delivery of the message. Most people do not like being called retarded pieces of shit that should kill themselves, especially by someone that they genuinely respect and want to see succeed. Take it or leave it, I don't care. I'll be here regardless of how many times you tell me to kill myself.

Lastly, the majority of the user base is with you. You're doing a fine job, Josh, and I mean that. You're rough around the edges but you're a good guy, and you're fighting for the right things for the right reasons. I know I'm not alone when I say that regardless of whatever petty bullshit or drama that comes up, at the end of the day, I'm a ride or die nigga. It's going to be alright. God bless you, Josh.

Reactions provide meaningful feedback and also help with highlighting content (an algo which can and will be improved later). I want people to be able to react to content, I want reactions to have meaning, and I want reactions to help improve the browsing experience for everyone. I've said all this before. They do have value.

It is very specifically the unintentional uses of vicarious thread watching + dopamine farming that is the issue.

Do negrate reports actually happen? Most of my reporting is either retards trying to be the new troll of the year or shartyfags. I didn't know people actually were this retarded.

Not sure if it's feasible to implement in xenforo though, but that's what would solve my navigation issues.
You started this so stfu :story:

Am I the only one who thinks notifications for every like/reaction you get would just be annoying?
Maybe notifications for reactions from Kiwis I follow, that I could get behind.
Not exactly. I wasn't all that hard pressed when reaction notifs were removed back in march because it was annoying coming back after like a year of not posting and find out I have 947 notifications of the same retard updooting all my posts.
