Gym bros are trying to do some sort of equivalent, I'll grant them that, but they're kinda offputting.
Used to be you'd get a part time job in your teens as part of the rites of adulthood, then your driving licence - showing you can earn and be trusted to handle a ton of fast machinery, but that has gone tits up most places now.

They don't order standard across the board pregnancy tests for women before prescribing antibiotics. The vast majority of common antibiotics, including just about anything you would get in an urgent care, are safe for all stages of pregnancy. They also don't order pregnancy tests before X-rays or CT scans. You might see one ordered before certain especially risky drugs are given (think Category X, not Category C, which is the worst most urgent care meds are gonna be) but by and large they go by patient self-report.

There are hardly any healthy step ups and "rites" into adulthood anymore. Especially not for young men. It's why many are floundering. Poor leadership all around and nothing they feel is "for them" as they mature into whatever vague thing they might supposed to be. Bad all around. I see similar with girls as well but to be honest it's to a lesser extent in this specific context.

Nope. Last time I was in an ER and needed a CT I had to pee in a cup. They wouldn’t take “nope, haven’t had sex in a while” as an all clear. Hell they had my mom pee in a cup before a CT (she had a clot in her lung as it turned out) and she’s waaay past childbearing.

Honestly it just depends on what you’re having done, what meds you’re being prescribed, which area is being scanned etc - and I imagine it varies by country, and by area if you’re in the US. Without power levelling too much I used to work in the NHS.
Generally speaking, unless you’re under specialist care, or about to be prescribed something that has like a mega guarantee of birth defects, the most you’ll get (if you’re quite blatantly female) is “are you pregnant?” during initial patient checks, or a big yellow sign on the door saying “please tell the radiographer if you think you are pregnant” so they can check if your scan is safe or not. They’re pretty happy to take your word for it overall unless there is an actual danger.
AFAIK if the CT scan was of your abdomen/pelvis, as opposed to head, the general rule is to do a pregnancy test. CT scans give off a shit ton more radiation than a simple chest X-ray. Not much different than the extra precaution of taking bloods for contrast CTs to make sure your kidneys aren’t gonna buckle, even if you think you’re fine - it just comes with the territory of CTs.
Mind you, I left my job just as “chest feeding“ and “birth parent” came in, so idk if they’re feeling pressured from NHS middle managers to humour trannies for fear of reprisal at this point. A friend works in radiography and I know they’ve been lectured plenty by HR on PC things to say. Especially seeing as I knew a tranny who worked in my hospital who is in hot water legally right now for being a rapey freak in the women‘s changing room, and the NHS is siding with the tranny.
