Jan 5 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce as early as Monday that he will resign as Liberal Party Leader, The Globe and Mail reported on Sunday, citing three sources.

The sources told the Globe and Mail that they don't know definitely when Trudeau will announce his plans to leave but said they expect it will happen before a key national caucus meeting on Wednesday.

The Canadian prime minister's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.

It remains unclear whether Trudeau will leave immediately or stay on as prime minister until a new leader is selected, the report added.

Trudeau took over as Liberal leader in 2013 when the party was in deep trouble and had been reduced to third place in the House of Commons for the first time.

Trudeau's departure would leave the party without a permanent head at a time when polls show the Liberals will badly lose to the Conservatives in an election that must be held by late October.

His resignation is likely to spur fresh calls for a quick election to put in place a government able to deal with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump for the next four years.

The prime minister has discussed with Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc whether he would be willing to step in as interim leader and prime minister, one source told the newspaper, adding that this would be unworkable if LeBlanc plans to run for the leadership.

Took long enough. I remember PPP on Kino Kasino going off about Trudeau sometime in early December. Hiding in your office from the public, pathetic.

Do the people of Canada wring their hands over Trump this much?

I want to believe, but until he's out on his ass it's all more meaningless speculation.
If liberal compost like the G&M is reporting it I think it's pretty well guaranteed.

I really thought his cluster-b personality disorders would compel him to stay on until the bitter Fuhrerbunker-tier end, but if he's still leader by Wednesday he would have to sit through SIX HOURS of his caucus telling him to his face how garbage he is and he's too much of a coward to sustain that kind of a hit to his ego.

I'm actually not happy with this. I was one of the people hoping he'd stay on, just so that he can lose his seat and take the fucking L personally in the next election.

Now, it's most likely that the libs will prorogue parliament for months, holding the country hostage while they decide who Kim Campbell 2.0 will be. And in the mean time, they'll use their lame duck period to try to ban as many guns as possible and criminalize as many of their opponents' political base as they can. Quote me.

That was never going to happen. I did think he would hold on a little longer but I guess the pressure is getting to him.

After all he returns to a rich playboy lifestyle once he leaves office so it's not about the money but the loss of face that he was ousted and that in fact Canadians do not love him. That's probably the largest blow to Trudeau, he ego was always his first priority.

They'll need sessions of Parliament to do those things, which they won't have if they prorogue. They'll also end up immediately killing all their shitty bills currently being worked through the House once they decide on prorogation. They really are a lame duck.

LMAO, remember when this faggot went to India dressed like Indian while actual Indians were wearing normal suits? HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Apparently OICs can be done without parliament in session. I think. I'd love to be wrong.

Blackface aside, the king of shitty optics clearly missed the irony of him wearing NDP orange in several of those pics. That raised some eyebrows, particularly given the liberals retarded alliances with the NDP and the fact its current head is an indian

That said, i'll believe he's resigning when I see it. This is what the fourth time the media announced such a thing since he took office now and nothing happened those other times
