I think that is somewhat already settled. April and Aaron were a couple that Nick and his wife became friends with. But Aaron turned out to be an evil wife-beating coke-fueled monster and April ran away for shelter to Nick and Kayla's house. Nick couldn't say anything about April because they were sheltering her from the evil monster.

Aaron was so angry at no longer being able to beat his wife that launched a coordinated conspiracy with an evil scandanvian incel prude bitch at Nick's church to get the police to illegally raid Nick's house. And every bad story Aaron has told about Nick was actually a story about Aaron himself.

So:

1) There never was any swinging or anything like that. Nick is a good christian trad husband who just wanted to save a good woman named April from an evil monster.
2) CPS itself completely cleared Nick of any wrongdoing as regards his children and if the child charges are dropped as part of Nick's plea deal, Nick will say that the local prosecutors also agreed that Nick is the world's greatest dad and his kids are all genius kids better than all other children.

I think Nick's plans for his "story" have been somewhat frustrated by all the details about the hacking of Aaron leaking out. I'm sure he originally had plans to selectively leak all kinds of stuff from that material to support his "story". But potential legal jeopardy seems to have put a stop to him doing that.

I'm also pretty confident that Nick believes that if he can defuse the child-related accusations against him, then he will be able to safely go on streams again with his bottom-tier internet friends like Joe and Camelot. That the accusations about the children are the only thing preventing his successful comeback.
