Fire departments have no issues with using seawater for coastal fires. The problem is getting the seawater where you need it in any reasonable quantities.

The next time you go outside look around your neighborhood. You'll see some water towers. Those are what are feeding the water mains and hydrants. Along with some booster pumps to maintain pressure. The system works because nothing is drawing water out of the water tower faster than it can be refilled. Pr at least not for too long.

Right now the firefighting is sucking the towers dry faster than the fill pumps can keep up. This is bad for a number of reasons. Obviously you don't have enough water to fight fires. But more critically if the pressure in the water mains drops the fire trucks will start pulling a vacuum on the mains. This is bad. If the truck operator doesn't catch it quick you start collapsing water mains. And then you're fucked. And modern fire pumpers with 1500gpm pumps can pull a lot of vacuum. Which is not a good mix for 100 year old infrastructure.

To use seawater you need to park a truck setup for drafting at the water. And then start relay pumping. Most fire engines (pumpers) can carry up to 2000' of modern 5" or 6" supply hose. Also known as portable water mains. This stuff came out in the 80's and was a godsend. So now you are relaying from truck to truck to truck. 2000' between them (maybe a little more depending on equipment). Stretching miles until you get to the fire. And you're feeding 3, maybe 5 firefighting trucks. Tops. Or you setup a fill station where the trucks queue up to fill their tanks and go for a quick hit. Class A engines carry typically 1500 gallons on board. All said and done you're pretty much pissing in the wind with a fire like this.

I don't know in California, but on the East Coast "Drafting" and "Relay Pumping" are bordering on lost skills. So ubiquitous are the networks of water mains and hydrants. Most Engines don't carry the hard hose needed for drafting anymore.

and we must not forget: God appoints our kings and masters. that's what scripture says very clearly - people get the world they deserve. all one has to do is think about the implication. people like the mayor, Karen Bass, who cut funding to the fire dept, failed to refill the reservoirs, and is in fucking Ghana for no good reason, people like Joe Biden, and people like the faggy fire dept chief they hired to attend pride parades in uniform are God's judgment on the land. for the most part, judgment isn't leveled to simply destroy, but as a correction, a reminder. it's easy to imagine what the inevitable is if people insist on being retarded despite the consequences. it's always so weird how the people who enabled just these exact problems were allowed to be in positions of authority, isn't it?

Biblical-scale events happen and everyone shrugs, but this is tuesday in ancient Israel.

And in this case the fires are on top of some very tall, very steep hills with little to no infrastructure, you can’t just teleport the water up there.

1. No wonder everything smells like shit this morning.
2. The reason these fires keep happening is because the government keeps emptying out water resevoirs and doesn't allow controlled burns.

We deserve this, dont feel bad for us. I dont even feel bad for us.
