Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

Did you miss the part about the high winds in the area that are what making the blaze so bad? Those tanker DC10s have to fly low and slow to dump that water where it needs to go. The winds that are helping fire consume everything on those hills are high enough that the planes can't safely fly where they need to be.
The DC-10s are actually quite nimble and do a lot of mountain California firefighting, but they are in the southern hemisphere this time of year. It’s not fire season yet, and I didn’t realize they wintered in OZ. Still, there are plenty of tankers and planes out right now, including Super Hercules, just check flight radar 24, you’ll see.

ON KTLA 5 they just attempted a fixed wing water drop on what appeared to be fuck all but just in this picture you can see how badly the water gets dispersed with such high winds, 2 frames later its just a mist on the breeze moving downrange

This is such a joke and an embarrassment to our country. Yeah, piss on a giant fire, that'll totally work. Jeets are in charge of this or something.

There's literally a saying, "pissing into the wind," and that's what they just literally did.

Some of you faggots are borderline psychotic, there is nothing funny about this situation
I agree in a sense but you have to find some levity in tragedy. If no one's laughing at the craziness of it all, pain will fill the space where clarity should be and plant itself like an invasive weed in the thoughts of anyone witnessing this shit. Serenity prayer and all that.

If this gets worse, should this thread be moved to Happenings?

Also, does anyone know if @JosephStalin is okay? Or is he too far north?
He lives in Monterey on the Central Cost, far away from this.

I've noticed a lot of people not accounting for how big California is in these disaster threads. It's like when that earthquake hit NorCal last month, and people were going "Finally San Francisco is going to fall into the sea!" when the damage was mostly just some pot farms in Humboldt County getting wrecked.

Guys, making fun of California Hispanics and hobos burning to death isn't funny! Think of all the people in the land you can't afford to burning away while Biden talks about more Ukraine aid. It just isn't funny, guys! There is nothing comical about the rot of the earth getting possibly worse treatment than North Carolina!

Instead, years ago Californians imported eucalyptus trees to try to use them as rail ties, which they're useless for.

however, they spread like wildfire (lol) and burn really well, and explode when on fire and are full of oil.

and californians bitch and moan if you try to remove them.
>be American in 1800's
>need lots of trees for rail ties
>don't know jack shit about trees except that they're good and pretty and shit
>ask the Aussies to supply some of their trees
>they sent Eucalyptus trees with much gusto
>they don't mention that Eucalyptus trees take over 100 years to fully mature
>countless investors go broke
>fast forward to today
>Eucalyptus trees have spread all over the place and have finally matured
>Aussies also forgot to mention that Eucalyptus trees produce a toxic, highly flammable oil that builds up in them and literally explodes into fire when the heat reaches a certain point
>now it happens and keeps happening

Aussie shitpost centuries in the making, ladies and gents.

Hard to feel bad for the state that turned Lake Mead into Crater Mead ala Fallout:Dust.

I know Mead's water level rose in 2024 but we engage in the Acme of foolishness if we think 7 inches of water puts it back where Mead was even in the 90s, let alone before then.

Californians do more damage to the environment than steel mills, mining concerns and coastal fisheries.

Yeah, I'm sure California firefighters are regretting this decision right now.
The fire hydrants are empty because the government never had the reservoirs refilled. So a bunch of extra empty equipment sitting around would be as useful as the current empty equipment sitting around.

Literally if we just did not give them any aid or help at all, California would be a self solving problem with 2 years tops.
