Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

wishing death on your countrymen is gay, retarded, and exactly what people who hate your nation want. If you're going to fedpost at least make it entertaining with luigi memes.

It's hauntingly beautiful

Fishbro dindu nothin

I've spent a few months in cali (poor life choices), not LA though, and yeah from my experience you can have a house listed for $2-3 mil have it be generic a middle class working family 3 or 4 bedroom home. Like regular shit your parents probably grew up in if they didn't have it rough. Suburb homes, in the middle of a sea of similarly priced houses. It's just heavy gentrification and rent-seeking behavior together with little new developments driving up the prices, pricing out younger folks.
I don't know if I'd consider most LA Area Californians my "countrymen" anymore. That's not edge, it's reality. LA (and SF) are so culturally removed from the "normal" US that it's not even funny. The west coast as a whole really is, but LA really goes hard on it.

Both irl and online I've found interacting with hardcore Californians more akin to interacting with Europeans than other Americans

Controlled burning IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES doesn't fucking work.
You could have tried saying exactly that to start with, instead of making a blanket statement. Now you have people calling your retarded statements retarded, and your malding at that is providing bonus entertainment for everyone else in the thread.

I know this is a joke but I'll say this anyways for those who are curious.
This is fire retardant. It covers trees and makes it harder for fire to spread. Simple enough.
So the fire just sits there and dies out because too retarded to realize that more fuel to consume is right there in front of it? Clever strategy.

You shit your pants in public and then expect a "rebuttal" when the only response is really dude, you just shit your pants, shut the fuck up.
Autistic nigger mad at being called autistic nigger in the Autism and Niggers section of the Autism Thunderdome. Film at 11.

No, you only need to do one you backpedaling faggot. REMOVE TREE
You are so autisically hyper-focused on the Eucalyptus, that you fail to realize the Australia is not LA, or anywhere else, Australia is Australia. It is ironic you scream "Learn some geography," while failing to understand it yourself. Yes, LA might have some climactic similarities to where you're at in Australia, but it is not identical. Nor is its local ecology. The local native flora spring back lickety-split from a wildfire because they're adapted to it, and some of them even require it as part of their reproductive lifecycle.

So here you are, screaming that LA needs to get rid of all the invasive Eucalyptus. Here, you are correct. Then, in your retardation, you declare that because prescribed burns don't work in Australia, they can't possibly work in climatically similar LA. Here, you show your ignorance of southern CA's climate and ecology, and then start acting like a spaz when people call you out for it.

This fire isn't caused by just the invasive Eucalyptus, this fire is a confluence of multiple factors. Even if all the Eucalyptus trees, their seeds and fallen detritus all had magically disappeared a week ago, this fire would still be a raging inferno. Guess what happens when an environment which has come to depend upon small and frequent wildfires doesn't get them for years upon years, because the local envirotards whinge about keeping all that climate-change-causing carbon naturally sequestered? Fuel, fuel that would normally be barely enough for small, containable, sub-apocalypse-level fires, will accumulate. It will build up, build, build, and keep building, until the the tiniest spark opens a portal to Hell that will not close until the entirety of the LA basin is a smoldering crater.

I’m not interested in getting into the argument over whether California burning is based or not because we’ll go in circles forever, but it does say a lot about where we’re at. That kinship I feel with my countrymen just for sharing this beautiful chunk of land with me is wearing very, very thin.
Me and mine have far to much at stake for you to make this about our "current political climate". I dont know what kind of man you are but I dont let my neighbors house burn FOR ANY REASON. I dont have all the right, intelligent words right now, entire communities are being reduced to cinders how little do you care about your fellow humans period?

Tragedy should bring out the humanity in you not make you clarify your negative opinions. be the bigger man.

Yeah, I'm sure California firefighters are regretting this decision right now.
This is being blown way out of proportion. In spite of the gross statewide governmental mismanagement. LA Fire does have a very definitive apparatus replacement scheme. Trucks get replaced i think typically at 5 years like clockwork. Remember California spends taxpayer money freely. Now outside of NYC or Chicago most fire trucks will comfortably last 10, 20 even 30 years. So normally there is a market for secondhand 5 year old trucks. But LA produces a lot of them. And they really aren't always a great deal. As like NYC LA puts a lot of hard use on them. So they can't unload all of the surplus old shit domestically.

So they get sat in a parking lot somewhere. They can't just bring them back into service. They have no gear for them. No hose. No radios. No tools or fittings. All of that gets transferred to the new trucks. A standard class A Pumper costs somewhere between $300,000-$400,000 today. Maybe $250,000 if they are buying in bulk like LA? All the gear on the truck is another $100,000-$150,000. And that stuff is generally use until it breaks.

So basically they just sent Ukraine a bunch of excess trucks that they couldn't sell to Mexico.

Edit; Just to clarify on Fire Truck costs. A Standard Class A pumper is $300,000-$400,000 depending on options. A Heavy Rescue Truck can range from $250,000-$750,000 depending on how they spec it out and what it is designed to do. Some of them have wild assed cranes for picking up burning Tesla's. Some hove really powerful generators that can run a full medical center if needed. A modern Ladder Truck starts at $1 mil and goes skywards from there. Typically only the pumpers are on a 5 year rotation for a big city. Rescue may go 7-10 as they see less road miles. Ladders will depend on use area and locality. But most last at least 10 years in service with original owner.

I have not read the whole thread, but I will add this: the ecology of the USA West Coast is built around wildfires. There are native plants which grow best with regular fires; they have adaptations which allow them to regrow vigorously after a burn. Humans obviously do not like our shit getting burnt on a regular basis, but the plants and animals in the region are used to this.
Only in areas that have been doing appropriate land management. A lot of places go up like steel wool on a 9v because of short sighted fire prevention, so that when a fire does start, the fires burn more intensely than the ecosystem is adapted for.

The DC-10s are actually quite nimble and do a lot of mountain California firefighting, but they are in the southern hemisphere this time of year. It’s not fire season yet, and I didn’t realize they wintered in OZ. Still, there are plenty of tankers and planes out right now, including Super Hercules, just check flight radar 24, you’ll see.
The problem is the extremely high winds are just scattering and defusing the drops they do make. So the planes are basically pissing in the wind. And it's still a bit windy for the helicopters.

This has really turned into a full on disaster. The only reason i'm not calling it a catastrophe is because of the surprisingly low loss of life THUS FAR KNOWN.

The most frustrating part about the state of CA is the potential for it if built up and run right. (forest and nature management, desalination, dams, strict fire/EQ/wind building regs and policing, with the balls to clean the streets and kick the illegals, sane political class and voters, less freaks of letters etc.) An iconic, beautiful area with great weather.

Shit.. That is an entire area wiped off the map.
Seeing all the wires coatings burn and melt on fire like that is something else.

Just found this in my California folder

Can I get an F for the Colorado River, chat? Who knows how much of it will be wasted trying to fight this monster.

They/we should have been building desalination plants large scale ~50 years ago! They only have themselves (and eco retards) to blame. We should be building them everywhere there is even risk of water problems, not just CA! A few large scale plants pumping water to the MW and plains could help safeguard food production even.
