live nig report

Here's a question for any insurance goons ITT; I have my own homeowners insurance with a provider that also does business in California. They're one of the biggest providers in the nation but is there any risk of them going bankrupt after this and rendering my own homeowners insurance void? There are fires here too every now and then but we're not incompetent like Cali is.

LA traffic is notoriously bad. Imagine what an actual escape from Los Angeles looks like logistically. Probably bad.

On a funnier note it seems like even the people who aren’t blatantly rooting for the fires ITT are secretly hoping it gets worse.
Being vindicated for being right about systemic problems in far-left idology isn't "hoping it gets worse"

The worst part about this being true is that this disaster could have been prevented in many ways.
I'm just kind of impressed there's both NIMBY-ism sprawl with the rich needing s-p-a-c-e, but also so mismanaged and allow to have overly close/dense growth next to the homes and buildings that it's all still burning.

I wonder what the fires pronouns are
flammable/inflammable

Literally the last possible thing that could happen (outside of a riot on 1/20) for the Biden admin is 50 years of shitty Democratic policies causing multiple trillions of preventable fire damage

Amplified by
  • A mayor who fucked off to Africa for photo ops and who can't even handle a basic bitch journalist asking questions without permission
  • A governor who literally shipped all the fire trucks to the Ukraine for goodboy points
  • A lispy queer dyke fire chief DEI hire who is explicitly there to "fix the white cis heteronormative patriarchy in firefighting."
  • Laws preventing any fire prevention forestry for decades at the express warning of literally everyone not a far left dunning kruger environmentalist asshole
  • Laws mandating the fire hydrants be literally disabled for lack of water to avoid inconveniencing a fish in a pond
  • God himself going "lol nah fuck these guys in particular"
You couldn't end this on a more succinct note. The mecca of progressive shitlibs is burning to the ground because they've spent most of a century telling anyone with a dissenting opinion that they're big dum stoopid doodiehead white people who deserve to die in a hurricane or flood or tornado like all the other "stoopid rednecks" wot don't even have any carbon credits or DEI scores.
Didn't they also outlaw the prescribed burnings that California native Americans use to do?

Surprise surprise that most of these places burning right now have not actually burned in a very long time, so it isn't like every few years a fire breaks out outside of Pasadena or Runyon Canyon that you can point to and say "see, it happens all the time". Much like homes on the coast, maybe it will get hit, maybe not.

They haven refused to get their shit together - they have had conflicts of interest which all have their points, in a densely populated state that experiences this type of even with some regularity. Much as they manage natural disasters in other arts of the country where it can be expected, planned for, but not avoided.

Given the size of California, no fires have ever "burned it to the ground" in living memory as you allude to, so do tell em what other parts of the country have their forests, their climate and regularly burn, but don't burn to the ground (not that LA nor California ever actually has?
Malibu fucking burns down at least two times a decade.

LOOK AT THE WIND PATTERNS THEY ARE CIRCILING BACK INTO LA SOMEHOW
That's cause of the heat. The wildfires will cause the air to heat up and rise, which will pull in air from the surrounding areas. Large fires have their own weather systems, and we're definitely in that range now.

So the reports of the hydrants not having *any* water were true?
Yes, because apparently at the start of this mess the reservoirs were down to 3% capacity. As in, before a single firefighter hooked up a single hose. Not only that, apparently homeless junkies literally stole some of the hydrants for... god only knows what, so you have firefighters going to a region and finding nothing to hook up to.

Remember, admitting there's a problem is a sin! Only bad people do that! Everything is good in Democratia, and anyone who tells you different is a fascist nazi MAGA chud!

And given the fact that rich people's homes are getting burned too.

Hoo boy. Demies are in troubbbleeee

Ana has been getting slightly more sane this last year. Calling out democrats on Biden, calling out the democrats that said "shucks" when Trump was shot, giving the GOP props for bringing energy into the base. She is also a fan of watching the Rekieta spiral.

Literal Hellscape. Some Biblical shit to start 2025 with means this is gonna be a fun year and I'm gonna have a very fun birthday. 1000319544.jpg

I wonder if this firestorm will end up being so bad that it becomes another culturally and societally transformative moment for America.
Not very likely, considering 9/11 was caused by a foreign invader in a blatant act of war. It's easy to put a face on an adversary like that and rally the troops behind the fight. An epic disaster possibly caused by nature but most likely worsened by corrupt Democrat DEI policies? Don't count on it.

I wish I could make my own in-thread poll.

1. Nothing ever happens (looks dramatic but it’s not like LA is burning down $10B-$50B in damages)🧯

2. Katrina-tier devestation (the whole county is fucked and >$50B in damages) 🔥

3. Sodom and Gomorrah destruction (>$500B in damage, most expensive natural disaster in world history) ☄️

What do yall think is gonna happen?
Probably 2. The most expensive natural disaster is still the 2011 Japanese earthquake + tsunami. I don't think it'll reach that level.
