He doesn't think within the paradigms of how a normal person ought to. A stable job, family, friends, hobbies, these are all foreign to him. He just likes things symbolic of his childhood even if he's shit at it (Megaman), too young (bragging about owning an Atari and playing Pong, which qualifies him as a 'hardcore' gamer), or if doing it makes him look like the helpless five-year-old lost in the grocery store. But him wanting to be the heedless, helpless child is contrasted by him wanting to always be the 'king'. He'll never admit to his problems because he's always correct and will never address his problems because he always needs to be the victim.
The praxis of this forum is a testament to his failure as a human being. Although there are lots of nigger words and insults here, there is also genuine advice, the provenance of some of it being horror for how this retardation could go on for so long, some of it concern and so on. Whenever he reads this (which has been deducted to be quite frequently), it just asserts his victimhood and the contrariety that aggrandizes his narcissism, because if we're still here that must mean he's worth something in his head.
But 15k pages later Phil hasn't learned and the solicitude most have had for him, whether new or old to this, has turned into resignation. Phil really doesn't have much time left to get all of his affairs in order. He's cresting middle-age and not in good health due to all of his problems, practically 15 years older with the stress of his NPD, alcoholism, and general dishevelment, the man hardly takes care of himself, and you can see it in how he talks about the condition of his home. I'm not saying that him turning it all around would be easy, but he is the one responsible for his terribleness. If he made the effort and still failed to repair his image, that would be better than his continued intransigence on decade-old drama, that will be taken to the grave at this pace. The road Phil is going down has no winners, least of all him.
