But do I think we need to be building girl's schools and literally rewriting decades of what these people have known? Well that depends, are we dedicated to get through an entire newborn's 60+ years lifecycle to make this their new normal? Is a school for girls really appropriate when there are still daily battles? Aside from getting words of adoration and old crusty dudes buying me drinks at the bar, what am I gonna get out of this? How many people are gonna have to die for this; and why aren't there any Afghans willing to die for it? Hearts and minds, oppression, and all that other shit is hard to swallow when the people you're allegedly trying to help are also trying to kill you.

Trillions of dollars, thousands of lives (and more permanently damaged), and 20 fucking years, and the only improvement was the Taliban's hardware that we left... and I still can't own a fucking Glock 18.

Story on this. There was a Delta Operator who was drag racing and crashed into a car full of kids. Covered earlier in the thread. A bunch of former Delta operators in the comments on an IG post about the incident were arguing with a firefighter that "he's a good boy who dindu nuffin" and "he served his country and you didn't, so shut up!" To the extent they support civilians it's always police because police give them money for "training" and police kill innocent people in their homes too.

I think this is a hallmark trait for many of them. We've joked in this thread that autism and psychopathy are damn near a prerequisite for special forces members. For those who don't have mental illnesses, they tend to live seriously dysfunctional lives because of what they did during their service and how they maintained operational readiness (see DJ Shipley).
