Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I'm finally finding images of the damage from the Eaton Fire but they're almost all attached to GoFundMes. There are hundreds of GoFundMes. I feel like the toll of destroyed houses will be much bigger than what is currently being reported.
Fuck, I forgot

Among all the types of Californians that piss me off, and all the LA stereotypes that piss me off, how did I forget about Armenians
Honestly eminent-domain might be the victim's best hope for a max payout. Those properties are officially worthless if they're now uninsurable.
The thing I’d watch for if my attention span allowed me to check back in on California in a year or two would be whether these things are adjudicated before or after filling and paving begins.

California officials are fucking stupid enough to blow their cover

I don't know the lady that left a tort in it's burrow, or what kind of tort she has, but as the human caretaker of a half-grown Sulcata I can honestly say that once those fuckers decide to get in their burrow, it will literally take digging up the whole area to get them out, and they won't be happy about it. Sucks, but perhaps in the moment it was the best people could do.
Goes without saying but I hope any animals having to fend for themselves are okay.

KCRA 3 has a camera up over the Eaton fire
I admit to knowing little about tortoises. Are there any breeds that might make it out of that?

I imagine oxygen deprivation is the larger threat then the heat to them. I just don't know if they make air pockets like rodents or just dig straight down.

Those niggas better up their game if they want to compete for donations to their gofundmes. Maybe add some story about harrowing escapes, have the ladies wear low cut tops. Demand is very much outweighing supply.

Many (most?) of the events were happening outside of LA proper anyway. It'll still be the Los Angeles Olympics but more events will likely be spread around.
A quick check of the venue list shows nothing in the impacted areas. Inglewood might be closest but there's miles of city to burn before it causes an issue.

Edit: Maybe the Riveria Country Club in Pacific Palasades, which is scheduled for golf. But there's probably 37 others in the LA area.
And then UCLA, which is sort of close but if it jumps 405 the whole place is fucked.

Hope there is room in this thread full of hellfire and brimstone for some airplane autism.
CL 415 "Super Scooper" in action
But but but, SALTWATER IS CORROSIVE!!!!!
Seriously though, nice to see them doing something, but I almost fear its too little too late
Also I have a little song to dedicate to the people still insisting the California / LA govt did a fantastic job.

I feel it's time to ask a question that should be obvious but no one has really seem to come up with.

Why hasn't California been using desalination plants this whole time to refill their aquafers? And don't give me that crap about them throwing the salt back into the ocean, that's retarded and unnecessary, there's no reason to put the salt back in once it's already been separated. If they were doing it then they're retarded and should've been slapped with a golfing glove and told not to.

"They're telling us that hotels in the area... are sky rocket high...but also aren't really available"
"We're on day three now"
"See their homes burn to the ground...with no one in sight"
"no firefighters available"
"Live in Pasadena, never thought the fire would reach them... but it did"

big bald black lady just lost her payed off house, after 13 years. She is "at peace".
"why wasn't there a contingency plan?"

lists of new a roads closed.

I was curious to see if Hidden Hills and Calabasas could potentially be at risk of burning, since they're massive celebrity enclaves, but that would require the Palisades fire to climb the Santa Monica Mountains northwards, and the wind's blowing South Westerly. Downtown Malibu could be at risk, though.

Last I heard is that they're power hogs, and you know we're not building any more generating capacity.

Desalinization plants are also very expensive to build, and are of lower priority compared to the other "stuff" California does "prioritize"...

I'm just going to say it.

All of you fuckers fedposting while quoting sacred scripture because a faggy political machine runs a state into the ground are no better than the same Californians who smugly made fun of hurricane and tornado victims for voting differently.

I'm not telling you to not enjoy the schadenfreude of the powerful faggots that push for the political machine, or the powerful niggers that work to maintain it. I'm not even asking you anymore to care for the good people who will be most affected by this, not even the ones that dream of handing the state to the GOP as a fuck you.

The wicked shall know judgement but it won't be today. I'm asking you to consider the possibility that God's wrath doesn't come knocking on our doors too because you dare misuse his name. Your doorpost better be coated with lamb's blood if you dare.
"If you point one finger at someone, there are three fingers of your own hand pointing back at you"

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him."

I have no idea what the odds of an underground critter surviving such a fire might be.
I guess it would depend on how deep and near the flames the burrow was, and for how long it burned nearby.

Because water politics is a lever.

Literally, Gavin Newsom is diverting fresh water from the sierras into the bay to get farmers to fuck off and leave.

Tell me the last single policy enacted in California that said anything close to wanting to continue farming.

You know the weird shit these last few years, where like all sorts of farms and food plants across the country keep having disasters? Whatever that’s about, California is helping on an industrial scale.

It's actually blowing to the north right now. The wind contour model you're using is forecasting in the future, move the slider back to the "Now" indicator.
