Bikefags suck but the kid was at fault there. He just jumped in front of the bike between the cars without looking at all. The biker couldn't have stopped in time because he couldn't see him and the child was acting recklessly. Not looking is just brainless behavior and I hope he got serious talking to because doing shit like that will get you killed.

The biker should have came to a complete stop. Bikes are legally road going vehicles and forced to follow all rules of the road. So he either ignored traffic control devices, or was driving an unsafe overloaded vehicle. There's zero culpability on the child besides the general lack of awareness a child has.

Like I said I didn't know about this law. To me an idea that the traffic has come to a complete stop because kids in the area is extremely foreign and kinda dumb. I grew up with a culture where kids are expected to follow the same laws and look after themselves just like adults. At most we have warning signs near schools, daycares and playgrounds to be extra observant just in case. We know kids more probable to do something unexpected and stupid because kids are like that but isn't seen as an excuse for recklessness. If a child is too small and stupid to act safely, then they shouldn't be crossing roads on their own.

Actually only real difference between kids and adults on roads is that kids are allowed to bike on walking only roads if they are under 12. Beyond that kids are the same as any other road user and are to behave just any other road user.

Just to be clear, of course bikers should act safely too. They need to keep a reasonable speed and follow traffic laws whatever those are. If the local law is to stop and let kids to act like dumb little monsters then bikers should the very least follow the spirit of the law and slow down to such speed that they can come to an immediate stop if a gremlin child jumps in front of them.
