Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

Yea I have. The problem is confusing weather conditions that affect fire behavior, with the fire's ignition source. The two are not related. But the discourse of these two often misunderstood topic is creating confusion.
Climate change doesn't start fires. A heat source, intentional, unintentional or natural, starts fires.
As an Australian who's state burns to the ground every decade or so, allow me to explain.
Weather conditions will absolutely start fires in eucalyptus forests. Many fires are started by high winds, because dry branches rubbing together will create enough friction to cause a fire, and once it's going there will be enough oil in the leaves for it to spread. If the trees are green (ie, if there's been recent rainfall), it will take longer, but it will still happen, because there are always dead branches either in the trees or on the ground.
This is why forest management is absolutely essential, especially controlled burns to reduce fuel loads.
Also, eucalyptus trees sweat (i don't know the correct term) oil into the atmosphere. The Blue Mountains west of Sydney look blue from a distance because of the oil in the air. In the right conditions, you get firestorm situations where the trees will literally explode before the fire even touches them.

some wonderful images from the cameras

Thanks for that information. I apologize, my experience is with pine and hardwood forest, so my experience with eucys is limited. The sweating is "evapo-transpiration", moisture evaporating plus oils volitazing from vegetation surfaces. The Smoky Mountains take a bluish color because of the oils from the large concentration of volatiles given of by conifers trees. If you have smelled pine, that's what you are smelling, same for eucys.

Did you now that haybales can self ignite too?

That was a degree of clear thinking nobody else in charge has displayed.
Despite this particular bit of clear thinking, anything else that could plausibly be construed as malfeasance or dereliction on her part will be used to throw her under the bus as Newsom, Bass, and others try to save themselves from the public's justified displeasure.

none of the hydrant pumping stations had generators for whatever reason
I think some variant of "climate-change" or other environmental policy is a high likelihood.

Das wite, LA waycist!

She's this fucking stupid

"She doesn't control the water pressure." Sure, she probably does not literally have a "fire hydrant water pressure" control knob at her desk. If anyone is responsible for that, it is the local water authority.. But doesn't a city's water authority fall under the authority of a mayor? Maybe I'm being too old-school in my thinking, but last I checked, one of the duties of an executive is making sure the people under him or her are actually doing their jobs.

I remember seeing some clip of some old cartoon where the characters were koalas and other Aussie wildlife. They were trying to rescue someone trapped under a giant eucalyptus tree, and ultimately ignited its roots so it took off like a rocket. At the time, I thought they were just making things up, because it was a cartoon for kids. Now, I'm not so sure.

I have heard that the heat of large forest fires in pine forests can cause the pine trees to explode like @Frostnipped Todger describes. Is the same indeed true for pine trees?

Like a bomb. The more oil that's in the air, the higher the danger is. Most of the danger is going to be in the canopy, when the temperature hits the oils flashpoint or when a canopy fire starts from trees torching from the ground up. That's why canopy fires can spread faster than you can run. This is the killer in a forest fire.

That happens from the grass composting if it was baled too wet. It will heat up to the point of combustion.

The odd clump of green grass is okay, because at worst it will just create a mold spot.
Exactly! Counterintuitive that the greener and wetter a bale is, the greater the danger of self igniting. I believe this is why fire behavior is difficult for many too understand. Sometimes, just doesn't make sense, unless you know how its happening.

Some here are joking around "HAHA THE RICH GET IT" "LA burns" my own local community has been affected by bushfires more times than I can count. The widespread devastation that is happening over there is unprecedented. You can joke and laugh, it's not really that funny. Not everyone whose house burnt down was a rich entitled arsehole. Some were. Some weren't. Yes, I know where I am lurking. Lets keep some humanity in this. If not for the people, perhaps the children who have no bed to sleep in or the animals who have either died or have no idea where they will be fed?
I just want Hollywood to burn along with all of the celebrity homes, and for the normal people to be okay. It's those with the money and influence who need to suffer, not regular Joes.

I thought that might be the case.

Eucalypts are beautiful, but they are absolute dicks when it comes to fires. Except for bulldozing firebreaks, you pretty much just get the fuck out of the way and pray for rain. It was absolutely retarded to plant them in California, and even worse to not maintain them. Even our hardwood here are eucalypts, so we're always primed to burn.

We do have pines, but generally as plantations, so they are heavily managed, so I've never heard of one starting a bushfire.

It's actually astonishing. California truly is woke to its own detriment.

Imagine still trying to ride on the coattails of a California mayor and defending her from the evils of racism while your state quite literally burns all around you. I seriously cannot believe that watching your state burst into fucking flames somehow pales in comparison to protecting an uncaring politician from racism on the internet. Fucking retards like this Leonidas K almost make me think that CA deserves its downfall. They are literally defending politicians who are doing nothing for the people because she's a black woman.

Fucking shit. If you have time online to play Captain Save-A-Nigger, then leave X/Twitter and do something fucking productive.

They drink copious amounts of water too, from what I understand. And shed copious amounts of leaves.
