Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

Yeah, for context for kiwis: every time the mods drive someone away or close one of the megathreads they hate so much they literally lose him money. He let's his unpaid volunteers burn his money! It's hilarious!
I'm not defending paid forums as an idea, as that is antiquated at best, but this is a literal fact. SA monetizes autism.

It's what multiplies Lowtax's cuckoldry into new realms of being a bitch. Not only is he not doing anything about
this, repeatedly, for years but it's costing him money in the process.

Like is your revenue down buddy? Not making as much as you used to? Guess what $10 for forums was probably an even dumber idea when SA first came out But you have people like Ralp, Ozma, FAU, ZDR, and Koala March who are doing nothing but removing content from your website under a never ending series of subjective rules with zero accountability.

All the critics are at a disadvantage though because we are arguing against ten years of decay and decline in the community and even if Lowtax deleted FYAD, permabanned the cool crew and completely turned over the mod staff SA is still going to be a stunted mutant pile of shit.

It's almost like instead of waiting for a mod to slowly give in to the absolute corruption that a tiny amount of power on a dying gay forum can bring, Richard is just letting FagsAreUseless install people who already have the correct opinions and are willing to use their power to harass wrongthinkers out of the forum.

Real Talk: I am a far leftist progressive and I find this place funnier/more welcoming than SA. Food for fucking thought here.

Koala March came straight out of the gate. There was no tragic turn to the dark side there she just found out about the force and shoved a lightsaber into a younglings white persons heart .05 seconds later.

lmao you're like the fifth person to come here and say this just in the past few days, I love it.

Are we supposed to be some kind of hotbed of the alt right? Because the politics on this forum are all over the place and getting buttmad about it is deprecated.

We're one of the few places where you can speak positively of President-Elect Donald Trump without fear, so that makes us pretty fucking alt-right in a lot of people's books.

Dear Leader has a MAGA hat.

I dunno man, i think there are plenty of examples of bad mods getting the axe with little to no drama. Me being a recent example.

There's also been franco and ralp stepping down, not making a big deal. Gnarly was demodded. Butt wizard too, no big blow up just a quiet demod.

The point remains that there's no real accountability barring a forums revolt or yet another pedo mod. If mods don't want to step down, and the admins don't want them to step down, even if every goddamn person in a subforum wants them gone, they won't be unless one of the first 2 things change. When you get an administration terrified of losing face for going back on a decision – or whatever reason FAU won't come here to tell us some very funny jokes – coupled with delusional hyper-progressive mods, you get the absolute shitheap that is D&D.

This is the ideal situation. I'm a leftist but I also hold such conservative ideas as "you should work if you want money" and "guns aren't evil" and "blaming everything bad in the world on straight white men is fucking retarded". I would fight to the death for your right to call me autistic, and I'd hope you do the same for me.

Edit: Oh and to answer your question, KF is regarded as being somewhat to the right of SoSe politically.

I wonder how much money people like Ozma cost Lowtax in his life. There was a point when companies were buying up anything with social reach. Ebaumsworld of all places sold for $17 million and that was when it was already on it's way out.

Even if it couldn't get sold for a lump of cash, he'd probably be looking at solid 6-figure incomes for years to come if he had just maintained his old userbase. Imagine missing out on all that and fucking your kids over because you were afraid to remove Zack Parson's fat unfunny wife from power.

Yeah. Regular bans can be reversed for $10.

Every time you are banned (not probated, but actually banned), you have to spend another ten bucks to re-buy your account.

@Null I think you need to go full-on Martin Luther and post a "95 Fuck-Ups You Should FIx" somewhere on SA.
I think it'd work because Luther wrote antisemitic literature and everyone over there probably thinks you're a deplorable neo-Nazi anyway.

You know, it feels almost wrong to suggest given I'm opposed to the idea in general, but given they already have plenty of 'safe spaces' in there, maybe they should add some for republicans too and keep their liberal majority out. If they have a place to chat without getting dogpiled, then they can attract people that wouldn't have posted in D&D before and the debate and discussion can happen outside the designated safe zones.

It just polarises things even more and reinforces identity politics. The answer isn't more safe spaces, it's less.

The alternative is nuking the whole subforum, and I think that'd piss too many people off. Lesser of two evils was my thinking.

Have you seen the negrotown thread rules?

Seriously, the posters here are not present to hold your hand through the discovery of your white privilege and all that it entails. We have jobs, families, and we won't be your magical negro to impart on you life wisdom on how to be a better person.
5. DON'T BE THIS PERSON
"Black-on-white crime is proof that black people just hate all whites!"
"Talking about race is racist!"
"BET, Black Girls Rock and Black History Month exclude white people. How racist!!"
“I don’t see race. I only see the human race.”
“Talking about issues in terms of ‘white people’ and ‘white privilege’ is reverse racism.”
“You [person of color] clearly don’t know what racism is. According to Webster’s Dictionary...”
“You [person of color] said something about white people doing racist things, so I demand you explain this to me right now.”
“But my [person of color] friend said it was OK if I did it [racially problematic thing].”
“Stop attacking me for having privileges just because I’m white. It’s racist and hurtful.”
“I’m sick of pretending that [people of color] need special rights and programs just because they aren’t white. We have problems too, you know.”
OP PART 2: NEW MOD, NEW RULES:
No saying "the blacks", "blacks" etc. it's dehumanizing. Say "Black people". We are people.
Don't come in here talking about how you don't believe in racism. this thread isn't for you.

I feel like there needs to be a thread titled "The Suburbs" or "High Property Values" where we just switch races around and use the same exact op.

I have, yes, they're ridiculous, but it's what gave me the idea of having safe zones and then a more lawless discussion 'battleground' outside of them. If you're already going to be letting people have safe spaces, you might as well make sure everyone is represented.

This is all hypothetical shit that could never happen of course - FAU comes from a groupthink that thinks all Trump supporters are fascists.

Or you could have moderation which actually encourages discussion. If the mods stop protecting the "mah feels" brigade, more conservative people will post there. There's probably no forum which requires robust discussion and even-handed moderation more than DnD. The mods need to set ground rules which encourage real discussion and hand out thread/forum bans like it's going out of style until everyone there - regardless of where they lie on the political spectrum - can behave like a grown up who's not terrified of different viewpoints.

Cloning something which is already fucked up doesn't make the place less fucked up. It just creates two fucked up places instead of one.

Wait the "High Property Values" thread idea might be a funny satire to some people, making light of the hilarious safe space ran by the whitest black person on the planet and any comedy that exists there, without even intruding on their safe space.

Too bad this could only ever be talked about on an offsite forum, as i would be probated for even talking about the joke's existence in the first place on Something Awful.

The problem isn't just with the D&D moderators, though. If every D&D moderator was removed from power, the majority of the users that already inhabit that subforum would self-police in the exact same manner.

Around these parts, I'm safe to say 'Go right over to General Discussion and actually make the thread, because that shit would be fucking hilarious' without fear of a 6er. Because if nothing else, at the end of the day, we try to have fun here. And as our great leader Null has said from the very beginning, "If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong"

Ralp and Franco didn't step down, they were removed by Lowtax, Ralph whined about it at first. Franco then became the biggest bitch in QCS

I think KM overcompensates a little cause she's whiter than Beyonce's photoshops.
Probably a mix of needing a cultural identity to latch on to and feeling insecure about looking like a puerto rican stripper.

It's why her GIFs are all the darkest women in existence and she talks non stop about her blackness and has turned her moderatorship into revenge for slavery.

Yeah, that's why even the critics can't win. If everything was completely changed over night at SA you still have the better part of a decade spent carefully ruining the community. I'm not saying it's irrecoverable but by year 9 or 10 of lowtax's complete lack of involvement it makes his job harder if he wants SA to continue existing long term.
