Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

SCE is churning out social media content trying to justify the sympathy shutoffs and people are not having it anymore. The anger is real. It’s worse because some areas had power restored only to lose it again 8 hours later. The scuttlebutt is that shutting everything off so abruptly has had more longterm consequences than anticipated.
Why is power being cut? Is it because of the risk of electric poles sparking new fires?

"talked to several frustrated evacuated residents"
"the devastation is being compounded by the chaos of not knowing anything"
"they don't care about us as the public"
"thousands and thousands of people affected... and the government is showing no compassion for us"
"I understand the military is here... we hope they're keeping the looters out"
400 California national guard
unlucky they voted for this

Just a reminder to all the looters. The California National Guard doesn't get issued ammo when domestically deployed. They exist only as a visual deterrence.

Do you think people are going to riot? Will they do it on January 20th?

California's official government website is being fucking useless as always, I don't think it's been updated in over 10 hours now. I went to bed and woke up and it looked identical between the 10 hours I slept through.

The cameras still work... fine enough, when they're not obscured by smoke.
Here's the state of most of them. (Supposedly direct views of Eaton and Palisades respectively, according to the cameras' locations. They're not facing the same way, so i'm 50/50 on it just being the sun.)

Wind is all over the goddamn place (some going south, some going west? And then there's that one bit that's just circling around itself...) and seems to be pretty fast. Firefighters are running out of time to get this thing under control before it starts spreading everywhere.

@El-ahrairah covered this but seeing friends of mine that were lifelong ”Progressives” in LA are now finding out exactly what friends of mine found in Minneapolis during the Crackups at the Race Riots - the incompetent post turtles you elected so you’d feel good about yourself at brunch have now failed you and nobody is coming to save you. A neighbor of ours watched his 60+ year family business (Minnehaha Liquors) literally across the street front the 3rd Precinct burn to the ground and LA friends of mine (at the time) applauded it because it “sent a message about privilege” and not to worry because “they have insurance”.

Before I say this I want to make it clear I feel terrible for everyone that’s impacted by this but at some point decades of failure electing people based on “feels” and “representation” and letting them pass the buck comes to a head and people get a wake up call. Whether or not they answer that is up to them but after what happened during the Summer of Floyd I left the liberal shitholes behind for good and will NEVER let myself get into a situation where incompetent local leaders will fail me like that and expect me to just take it. If the voters and citizens of LA don’t demand these worthless local “leaders” answer for this mess they are beyond hope and will get much worse next time.

Really looking forward to the surprised_pikachu when the people staring at the burned out wreckage of their lives find out they were criminally underinsured for the contents of their home and are only going to get 20% of the value of the lives they just watched go up in flames. Insurance isn’t going to cover all of this and when that starts to get felt I 100% expect a lot of people to show their anger at an American Box that isn’t of the soap, jury, or ballot variety.

That was the reason given. However, they have cut power to places where the lines are buried rather than strung overhead as well as places where there hasn’t been wind for days. All while areas that historically lose power during the height of fire season have stayed lit. It’s like someone’s cat walked across a keyboard while they were trying to hit the off switches.

ETA: I’m not saying this is a conspiracy. The cascade of poor choices goes back so far and spans so many industries that it literally couldn’t be a conspiracy because everyone would be in on it. It’s an embarrassment. It’s the real-world logical end conclusion of a myriad of high-minded, naive decisions being made by people promoted beyond their ability.

It comes, once again, from trusting someone like this:

They gave an order of evacuation to the entire LA county TWICE. I don't think they understand the concept of spacial partitioning that well. Probably wordcels at the wheel.

Our government: Billions into technology for some purpose of having the ability to launch a drone nuke towards any target that even would utter "burn america"

Our government when there's a fire: "Jusf woke up wad happun?"

La poor people: I can't afford private fire brigades to the non-million dollar estate i live in, can I have a pail with water at least please? Also stop trying to steal my kids.

LA government: No, also let your kid know we sent them a discord invite. Anyways, sO abOuT TRumP YaLL?!?!?!?,!,!,!,!?!,!,!

And Massachusetts is easily the most racist state in the uion.

Minneosta is a shit hole

Minnesota is basically the same story as many other blue states where it's a few bughives that vote heavily Democrat while the rest of the state suffers under their idiotic policies. They imported a bunch of Somalis, which is worse than just about any other group, save for maybe Haitians.

The northeastern part of the state has a lot of forest density and have had some large fires throughout the states history, but they tend to be in the remote parts of the state where few people live and the climate isn't as conducive for them to grow as out of control as in California.

Minneapolis still hasn't rebuilt much of what was destroyed during the George Floyd riots, which while awful is nowhere close to the devastation that LA has already experienced. That should clue in everyone as to how to the reconstruction efforts will go there.

Either this is a way to incite more chaos, or a lie to get looters shot. Either way, it’s hilarious!

The biggest tragedy that's going to result from the California fires is the number of human rats that are going to flee the flames, leave California, and spread their destructive progressive brain disease across the US.

Everytime there's a disaster in California, it's like a plague patient sneezing in a crowded room.

On the bright side, Gavin Newsom's POTUS chances just dropped to -100 gorillion %, which is nice.

But I hope the fire debacle doesn't end his governorship though, because he is absolutely the governor California deserves.

Wasn’t there a house on fire in Studio City a few nights ago? I’m guessing that one was started by illegal immigrants because I haven’t heard of it since.

That there was. It was quickly knocked down, didn't spread too far, and was suspected to be arson due to the fire starting inside the home in question.

As far as not hearing anything about it I'd chalk that up to how quickly it was taken down, the fuzz still working on investigating it.
