I have never went through something like this before, everytime I got a haircut it was ok, but since I moved to a new town I wanted to try a new place, a so called ''unisex'' hair salon. Since it was recommended to me and was told it was a modern place.
Basically I book with my given name, one that is really masculine and leaves no room for doubt, and with a reallly masc outfit and she kept misgendering me all the time, but I let it slide since tbh I was not feeling like correcting her and having an awkward moment.
I show her a picture of a guy(which she kept referring to as ''the girl from the picture'' help) with a layered haircut that's kinda long in the fringe part since I did not want it that short and that I wanted the layers bc my hair is straight and falls really flat. Well basically she did whatever the hell she wanted, she cut it above my eyebrows and gave me a bowl cut, but the cherry on top is that she tried to give me the typical karen cut leaving one side way longer than the other and I respectfully told her that I did not ask for that and that I wanted my bangs to be even, and she goes ''yeah ok'' to then proceed and NOT do that, but accentuate it even more.
Then when we were about to finish she asks me if I'd change something, and I tell her again that I want my bangs to be even and she goes ''well I think it looks more stylish like that''. Girl I don't give a shit that is not what I asked you to do at all, I didn't say smth like that although I really wanted to but at the end she finally listened to me and made my bangs even.
So yeah, basically I sit down wanting to be, idk, just a modern guy ig with the haircut I always get and I stand up looking like the carbon copy twin of Jean from attack on titan in the first season. I must say that I do look masculine and I like it, but it's not what I wanted AT ALL.
