I think Newsom will have a tough time rallying the base for a Presidential run not so much for the fire but because he's from California. I think the Democractic Party can only conclude that 2024 was a resounding failure because Harris failed to appeal to small town voters. What the party playmakers will want is someone from the Rust Belt or South. They need another Bill Clinton. I just can't imagine a cityslicker like Gavin getting Pennsylvania.

This speculation is with the optimism that Trump 47 is a decent or even good tenure.

100 percent, Trump doesn't even have to be a "from the river to the sea" guy he just needs to be honest and not two faced on the issue like the dems were. An odd one to talk about is Fetterman, since he does fit the bill near-perfectly. A moderate, rust-belt Dem that appeals to small town voters.
The problem is his appearance. The guy barely looks like a politician, even less so a President. It'd be risky to run him, because there's absolutely people out there who wouldn't vote for him just because he doesn't look like a fake President in a Hollywood Movie.

Outside of the rustbelt Mark Kelly would be a cool pick because an Astronaut President is just cool image. Having a real man run would really help the Dem's image problem. Beyond that I know Pennsylvania loves Josh Shapiro but seriously the guy looks like a nerd I just don't see him winning, Presidents need a cool factor to them. Of course there is the legend John Fetterman, but yeah that's about it.
