It's far more likely that they do know and have chosen to politely ignore it than it is that they're completely ignorant of it. He used to have family members on his FB friends list, as well as people he knew from his Evanston Days, so even if they didn't see it with their own eyes I'm sure someone came to the Greers concerned about the things their son was blasting all over Facebook. And then there's internet busy bodies who have likely taken the time to track down the Greers and inform them of what Russ has been up to. And of course the Church itself likely tried to get the Greers to get control of their son's sinning ways. Trust me, they know.

Edit: I think Shit-Lips' horror at Hardin getting in contact with his family might be due to him worrying his parents might come to the conclusion that he's no longer mentally fit to be independent and try to get some kind of power of attorney over him (or whatever its called) and either force him to live with them again, or in some kind of group home or care facility. I think the idea of losing his autonomy is terrifying for Russhole. No more hookers, no more get famous schemes, no more wooing women with wooing words, no more chances to get his songs and movie scripts out there to big shots in The Biz. It would be Hell for Russ. His problem that he's too dim to understand is the sanctions have nothing to do with the underlying merits of the case and are solely related to his retarded gameplaying with discovery. They might have disclosed additional details, like maybe the kill list itself, who was on it and why, if Russell could have gotten access to any gun, how serious THEY took the threat, the conditions that lead to the case being dropped, if they're any relation to the "Judge Greer" who dropped the case.
