Old School Runescape / Runescape / /r/OSRS / /r/2007scape - Teaching the Economics of Prostitution since 2007, Proof that Memes never Die, Venezuelan Farming Sim 2k07

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I've been catching up on chunkman accounts and I find it extremely hilarious the Yanille guy
  • found a bug to boost his fishing trawler(extremely old, buggy and unfun, possibly the first minigame on runescape) xp rates and drops by at least 10x(from average 250xp per game to over 2000 a pop going all the way to 8k with a group of ten randos or breaking the 10000k mark with a larger group)
  • abused it to shit to make his months long grind actually reasonable(I fully understand and support that shit) and completable in weeks
  • got an apparent world record for largest fishing xp drop in one go(72.8k)
  • THEN reported it to Jagex
You have to respect the balls on the guy knowing he probably wouldn't get banned in the process because he's an up and coming video maker.
i hate people who do this stuff, abuse a glitch that's not gamebreaking or hurts anyone, then go "mooooom come fix it!"
most of the time i think they do it because they want to present themselves as as doing a favor for the community. like "look guys i did this for educational purposes and then reported it like the responsible person i am, don't try it at home" but they don't realize it just makes them look like ninnies
they all wanna be a central figure in the community, and potentially be ass patted by the game devs too, so they don't wanna be the naughty fun having guy
only good clean family friendly fun the way fun is supposed to be had here, please walk slowly around the pool area and splash at a moderate and respectful amount

It's more or less pandora's box because you have two paths
  • once you reveal that shit it's going to get abused by everyone until it gets patched by jagex and it'll land you a ban for abusing it
    • The common argument I've seen here is that it's the problem of getting thousands of sharks and other high level healing items in a very short time as an ironman
  • you just keep quiet about it but imagine going "yeah ha ha that multi month super grind I was dreading, I finished in a couple of weeks but I wouldn't tell you how" when you're making a video series.
    • Plus again you've revealed there's some way of consistently breaking the minigame for big drops(which will be verified through high scores) and it's only a matter of time until some other autist figures it out and then you loop back into path 1
It's still niggardly "I did it and benefited but fuck everyone else who wants to do it" behavior but when it comes to runescape grinds I can kind of understand that.

Anyways, the latest deadman mode ended. Any big drama?

Apparently there's some commotion about RoT botting accounts to auto-attack people, currently causing a shitshow in the 2007scape subreddit;

Actually it was that potato-faced tranny faggot Hanannie who reported it. So not only is he a gross troon he's a narc as well.

Fun story about Hanannie, a friend of mine was a youtuber (not saying who) and he was in a discord server with a few other friends. They wanted to fuck with Hanannie, so they changed the name of my youtuber friend in their server to "I Despise Trannies" and sent it to Hanannie. This started a fight between them, he explained it everything was understood and then Hanannie asked if he wanted to pretend they were still beefing to "grow both of their channels"

Jewex is planning to implement IN GAME ADS! upping memebership prices and if you pay 350 FUCKING DOLLARS A YEAR you'll get specialized member worlds. I'm at a loss of words and almost impressed with the fact that fagex would even try this.

I would expect some sort of ad jewery in RS3, but OSRS? If they actually do it, that'll just be "squeal of fortune" levels of retarded all over again.

Didn't Jagx get sold to private equity a few years ago and they are mad Runescape 3 is losing money hand over fist over OSRS? They'll probably squeeze blood from a stone and kill it rather than yield despite the fact the Runescape community forced their hand the first time by actually quitting instead of talking about it like every other fanbase.

Yes, Jagex is currently owned by the CVC Capital Partners private equity and investment advisory firm.

Huh. Guess this is what it takes to break a habit and stop paying for an MMO. Nostalgia's a helluva drug, but fuck all of that.

And just after Jagex had all the goodwill and apparent record player numbers for Leagues, they blast themselves in the foot with a shotgun.

OSRS hasn't been "oldschool" in ages, just the very fact that they update it at all is antithecal to its very concept
I guess nowadays the only genuine way to experience the game without all this contemporary noncery is playing on private servers like Vidyascape, although not having all these users running around you while you do your tasks does make it a lot less exciting to play.
